Uwais will direct and star in Timur, a film inspired by the 1996 hostage crisis in Mapenduma and the subsequent rescue operation led by current Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The film will feature Uwais alongside action stars Andri Mashadi (The Shadow Strays), Yusuf Mahardika (Borderless Fog), and Yasamin Jasem (Temurun), as well as Prabowo Subianto himself, who participated in the actual Operation Mapenduma.
