The original 1989 film, The ‘Burbs, directed by Joe Dante and starring Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher, follows a suburban dad who gets caught up in a strange mystery involving his new neighbors, teaming up with a quirky group to investigate. The new Peacock remake features a young couple (Palmer and Whitehall) who return to the husband’s hometown, only to find themselves entangled in long-held secrets and danger when new residents arrive. Here’s what Peacock says about the remake:

The new show, The Abandons, appears to be built around a bitter fight between Fiona Nolan (Lena Headey) and Constance Van Ness (Gillian Anderson). They’re battling over land that Fiona’s family lives on, as Constance wants to mine it for silver.

Comparisons have been made between Jacob Elordi and Leonardo DiCaprio, suggesting he’ll be a similar heartthrob for a new generation. However, Margot Robbie believes Elordi’s talent reaches an even higher level, comparing him to Daniel Day-Lewis. She specifically praised his portrayal of Heathcliff, the brooding and passionate hero of Wuthering Heights. The casting has sparked discussion because some readers envisioned Heathcliff as a person of color, based on Emily Brontë’s description of him. While Robbie didn’t directly address this controversy, she strongly defended Elordi, pointing out that many previous actors who’ve played the role – including Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Ralph Fiennes, and Tom Hardy – were white. She urged audiences to trust her judgment, saying, “Just wait. You’ll be happy.” Wuthering Heights has a strong legacy to uphold, and Robbie is confident Elordi will deliver a memorable performance.

Quan and Goodwin previously appeared in a Disney Parks Instagram video revealing that the Zootopia character Clawhauser was being added to photo ops at Disney California Adventure. A new video just dropped that shows that the pair also made it over to Disneyland, and went on the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction, one of the best Disneyland rides, together, and Ke Huy Quan even brought the right hat for the ride. Okay, movie fans, heads up! One of my all-time favorite thrillers, Collateral – you know, the 2004 Michael Mann film with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx – is leaving Netflix on January 1st, 2026. It’s got a fantastic cast, including Mark Ruffalo, Jada Pinkett Smith, Javier Bardem, Peter Berg, and Bruce McGill. If you haven’t seen it, or want to rewatch, you’ve got a little while, but don’t wait too long to stream Collateral before it’s gone!

The HBO series IT: Welcome to Derry took a risk with its first season by delaying the appearance of Pennywise, the iconic clown played by Bill Skarsgård, until the fifth episode. While viewers were eager to see him return, the show held back, leading to some frustration online. The creators explained this choice by saying they wanted to emphasize Pennywise’s ability to change forms. However, the real reason was actually convincing Bill Skarsgård to play the character again.

It’s reasonable to wonder if the core idea of Supernatural could succeed without Sam and Dean Winchester. However, the show hasn’t always made the best choices with spinoffs. Wayward Sisters had a strong following but wasn’t developed, while The Winchesters moved forward despite creating some inconsistencies with the established storyline.

Following his work on Yellowstone, Kevin Costner directed and co-wrote the first installment of what he envisioned as a four-part Western saga. Chapter 1 was intended as just the beginning of a massive project, but it surprisingly flopped at the box office. While criticized for elements like the age difference in one of the relationships – specifically, Costner’s character Hayes – the film is actually quite strong. Horizon may be a bit rough around the edges in its first chapter, but it truly captures the spirit of classic Westerns better than most recent films.
