The popular anime series Gundam is becoming a live-action movie for the first time. Starting in 1979 with Mobile Suit Gundam, the franchise has become a hugely influential science fiction property, known for its giant robot battles. It’s one of the biggest names in the ‘mecha’ genre globally, earning around $600 million each year from merchandise. The story is set in the future, where humans live in space, and a war has broken out between Earth and the space colonies, fought using massive robots. Currently, no details about the movie’s plot or the roles of the actors Sweeney and Centieno have been announced, nor has a production start date been revealed.

Honestly, the success of this film wasn’t a huge shock to me. It started a little slowly on Netflix, but quickly became a phenomenon – kids loved it, parents enjoyed it, and even the most dedicated animation fans were impressed. It really took off, boosted by its catchy K-pop soundtrack and a story that anyone could connect with. I even heard James Cameron – yes, the James Cameron – was streaming it! Beyond the views, it seems like this film might have actually helped Netflix and movie theaters start to become friends again, thanks to those fun sing-along versions in cinemas.

The film immediately draws you in with a shocking injustice. Samuel Murphy (Ethan Hawke), a hardworking widower, and his young daughter, Penny, are unexpectedly evicted and then harassed by police while searching for a new home. Tragically, Penny is taken into custody, and Murphy is sent to a harsh work camp run by Warden Clancy (Russell Crowe), a man who loves baseball but enjoys exerting control. Murphy, a skilled mechanic and war veteran, quickly impresses Clancy with his strength and work ethic. He has six months left on his sentence, but Penny will become a ward of the state in just one month. Seeing Murphy’s situation, Clancy makes him an offer: transport three inmates and a shipment of gold across 50 miles of dangerous terrain, and Clancy will secure his immediate release. But if even one gold bar is lost, both Murphy and the inmates will face deadly consequences.

Although the classic He-Man cartoons might lead you to expect a story entirely set in a fantasy world, this movie is doing something different. In this version, He-Man lives on Earth as a regular person, completely unaware of his origins on the planet Eternia.

According to FlixPatrol, the TV show Sons of Anarchy is now fifth most popular on iTunes’ VOD list. The show recently climbed four spots, surpassing titles like The American Revolution and Euphoria.

During a disagreement with former Bachelor contestant Clayton Echard, 29, actor Michael Rapaport, 55, made a comment about Echard keeping secrets, which many people interpreted as a reference to his sexuality and his past reluctance to publicly come out as gay. Shelter is a classic Jason Statham action movie, and it fully embraces that. Fans know exactly what they’re signing up for, and the film delivers on that promise. While many films like this don’t stand out, Shelter takes a familiar concept and adds a fresh twist, making it an action movie worth seeing.
