Starfleet Academy continues the story begun in Star Trek: Discovery, expanding on the 32nd century setting. While Discovery eventually gained a following, Starfleet Academy hasn’t resonated as strongly with longtime Star Trek fans, even though it includes enjoyable nods to older series like Voyager and Deep Space Nine. Despite this, a second season is already being made, as it was greenlit quickly before the first season even aired. The recent finale offered a glimmer of hope that the show won’t end abruptly or feel incomplete. This hints that the series could ultimately be a fully realized project, rather than one that’s left unfinished.

This new 6-episode series was created by and stars Ahmed, a well-known actor from films like Nightcrawler, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Sound of Metal. With each episode lasting only 23-27 minutes, it’s a perfect show to watch all the way through in a single evening.

Production on the show is currently paused, and it’s unclear if it will continue. TMZ reports that, alongside a police investigation in Utah, the production company, Jeff Jenkins Productions, is also conducting its own investigation. According to the report, the show’s future is uncertain, even if Taylor Frankie Paul doesn’t return. Hulu originally ordered two seasons with a total of 20 episodes last year. Season four premiered on March 12th, and filming for season five began earlier this year.

Dr. Cox was a major draw for fans when Scrubs returned, having been a character throughout all nine seasons of the original show—even the episodes from Med School. So, it was unexpected and a little disappointing when he quickly chose JD (Zach Braff) as his replacement and then the character of McGinley disappeared. The new cast members have done a good job keeping audiences focused on the present, though, until Dr. Cox received a hilarious mention in Episode 6, “My VIP.”

According to FlixPatrol, Criminal Minds is currently the ninth most popular show on Paramount+ in the U.S. This comes as the series has reached a new high in viewership, especially since it ended its original run with Season 15, was rebranded, and returned with new episodes now known as Criminal Minds: Evolution.

Mike Flanagan is a well-known name in horror directing, and Guillermo del Toro is right up there with him. Del Toro, famous for films like The Shape of Water and Pan’s Labyrinth, and now Netflix’s Frankenstein, is known for bringing together great storytellers and spooky tales. His recent series, Cabinet of Curiosities, earned a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, suggesting it could become a long-running success for Netflix in the horror genre.

The story centers on a woman with a hidden past and a strange ability to sense impending disaster, who falls in love with a wealthy, carefree man. It features familiar horror elements – strained family dynamics, a hurt animal mirroring the protagonist’s pain, and plenty of gruesome scenes. While it hits many classic horror beats, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen presents them with such skill and originality that it could have been a truly great work if it were a bit more concise and focused.

Honestly, all the creator has hinted at is that his version is going to be seriously intense, and that his mom – a huge X-Files fan, by the way – read part of the script and absolutely loved it! I’m putting all my faith in him – Mama Coogler knows what he’s doing!

This 6-part thriller series is based on Sarah Pinborough’s popular 2017 novel and was adapted for Netflix by Steve Lightfoot, who has worked on shows like Hannibal, The Punisher, and Narcos. It’s still a must-watch thanks to a truly shocking and well-done plot twist – one of the best ever seen in a Netflix original.

I was really excited when I saw Alan Ritchson, who plays Reacher, in the Netflix movie War Machine – it was the most popular movie on Netflix for a while! If you’re enjoying sci-fi like I am, HBO Max has a lot of great options. But honestly, I think the best choice is one of their really fantastic space operas. It’s a perfect fit!
