The show could have been enjoyable if it embraced its over-the-top nature and everyone committed to a clear vision. Instead, it feels confused – the acting is inconsistent, as if the performers are trying out different interpretations of the show, and the storylines are weak. Cases that should take considerable time are resolved incredibly quickly – faster than it takes for nail polish to dry, in one instance. One plot involves a wife falling for the woman her husband hires for a threesome, only for her to receive a massive $210 million settlement moments later thanks to incriminating video evidence. (The details are shockingly explicit, and frankly, a reason to skip the show.)

Allura is currently dealing with relationship problems that feel like a battle. Each of her friends experiences love in a way that reflects their jobs. Liberty, a divorce lawyer, predictably avoids commitment – we see her reject a proposal from her boyfriend even though he’s asking for things to move slowly. Dina offers a contrast; she’s happily married to Ed O’Neill’s character, but is struggling to support him and maintain their connection as he deals with illness. Emerald, on the other hand, doesn’t need a partner, choosing to have triplets through a sperm donor and build the family she wants independently.

There’s a growing trend in TV where shows are based on real-life events, but instead of focusing on negativity, they offer uplifting and inspiring stories. These programs highlight incredible true stories, showcase human creativity, and celebrate everyday heroes you might not read about in the news, ultimately leaving viewers feeling more hopeful and connected.

Despite samurai films being incredibly popular in Japan, Netflix hasn’t really focused on them. While they’ve offered some anime and one live-action film, Blade of the 47 Ronin, that film feels more Western than traditionally Japanese. Netflix is missing iconic samurai movies like Twilight Samurai and 13 Assassins, and hasn’t explored classics such as Seven Samurai or The Lone Wolf and Cub.

What makes the show, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, so good is its perfect mix of funny moments, genuine emotion, and relatable relationships. While Star Trek: Discovery generally received positive feedback from critics and fans, it did face criticism, particularly regarding the new look of the Klingons. These iconic aliens were so drastically redesigned that many viewers didn’t recognize them when the show first aired. The controversy lingered for about six years, but was surprisingly resolved with the debut of Strange New Worlds.

Miniseries are great because they tell complete, compelling stories without dragging on. However, even really well-made and creative miniseries often get overlooked because they don’t have the built-in audience that long-running shows enjoy.

There’s more good news for Star Wars fans! There are reports that Lucasfilm might be bringing the original versions of the first three Star Wars movies back to cinemas. For decades, fans have only been able to see updated versions, so if these rumors are true, many people would finally get to experience the original theatrical releases on the big screen.

While King raises a valid point, most superhero movies and shows avoid excessive violence for a good reason: a large portion of their audience is children, and studios are aware of this. Even if someone isn’t a fan of the genre, they can still appreciate it occasionally. The author, known for horror films, doesn’t often recommend superhero movies, but he does from time to time.
