While many will miss him, Freddy Krueger’s departure isn’t entirely unexpected. Though often lumped in with other iconic horror villains from the 80s and 90s, Freddy always stood out. Unlike Jason or Michael Myers, who relied on frightening appearances or masks, Freddy’s power came from his personality. He was as funny as he was cruel, sometimes prioritizing witty insults over actually killing people. And because he operated within dreams, his violence felt strangely playful and illogical. As the *Nightmare on Elm Street* series continued, Freddy became the main attraction, a pop-culture favorite even for those unfamiliar with the films. Attempts to reboot the character haven’t worked, and a big reason is that Freddy is so closely tied to actor Robert Englund, who fully embraced the character’s campy side.
Duncan remembers his mentor, Ser Arlan of Pennytree, charging him with the duties of a good knight: protecting the helpless. Now a knight himself, Duncan reluctantly agrees to take on a young squire named Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). The story takes place well after the events of *House of the Dragon*, but the Targaryen family still rules, and they’re just as troublesome as ever. Finn Bennett, known from *True Detective: Night Country*, plays Aerion Targaryen, sporting a strikingly similar bleached-blond hairstyle to Timothy Olyphant’s character in *Alien: Earth*, and isn’t shy about insulting Duncan. Bertie Carvel, Sam Spruell, Tanzyn Crawford, and Daniel Ings also star as Baelor Targaryen, Maekar Targaryen, Tanselle, and Ser Lyonel Baratheon, respectively. *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms* will debut on January 18, 2026, and the show promises an enjoyable viewing experience – especially with a friend.
In the film, Steve Robinson plays Ron Trosper, a recently promoted employee at Fisher Robay, a company that builds shopping malls (their slogan is: ‘Integrating Mother Nature With Centers of Commerce’). The story kicks off with a typical Robinson character moment: a public embarrassment. Ron gives a presentation for a new project in Canton, Ohio, and while he tries to be inspiring, things don’t go as planned, leading to a slightly awkward moment in front of his coworkers and boss, Jeff (Lou Diamond Phillips). Most people would brush it off, but Ron fixates on it. This embarrassment quickly spirals into an obsession, and he becomes convinced it’s part of something bigger. He starts investigating, and surprisingly, his paranoia seems to be confirmed, leading him down a strange path of questionable situations and false clues, all while his personal life begins to fall apart.
One reason *The Simpsons* has stayed on the air for so long is its simple, consistent storyline. Unlike shows with characters who age and change, the people of Springfield have remained largely the same since the show began in 1989, with very few exceptions.
Tudum recently shared exciting news about the next season of *Monster*, including that production has begun. Ella Beatty, known for her work with *Monster* co-creator Ryan Murphy on the *Feud* series *Capote vs. The Swans*, will star as Lizzie Borden. Charlie Hunnam, fresh off his leading role in a recently released show, will also return for the fourth season, this time playing Lizzie’s father, Andrew Borden.
The latest issue of Green Lantern Corps (#9) concluded the ‘Starbreaker Supremacy’ storyline. Written by Morgan Hampton and Jeremy Adams, with artwork by Fernando Pasarin, the issue featured several resurrections and wrapped up the conflict with a race of energy vampires who aimed to eliminate all emotion from the universe.
It’s been a while since a *Star Wars* movie hit theaters after the conclusion of *The Rise of Skywalker*. Now, with *Starfighter* on the horizon, excitement is growing. A recent report from ComicBook suggests the Jedi will play a significant role in the film, which takes place after *The Rise of Skywalker*. This comes as a surprise to many fans who expected *Starfighter* to center more on pilots and characters without Force abilities.
The new animated series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, started streaming on Paramount+ in August 2024. It’s a continuation of the story from the 2023 movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and is led by showrunners Christopher Yost and Alan Wan. The original voice actors – Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon – return as Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael, respectively.
In a recent interview, producer Oren Blum discussed his plans for the future of the *Saw* franchise. He wants to return to the core elements that made the original films so successful. “Making ten movies in any franchise is a challenge,” Blum acknowledged, praising the previous producers for building the series and allowing him to continue it. His main goal is to involve the original creative team more closely, particularly director James Wan, to revitalize the franchise and recapture its initial spark.
