Critics are giving Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake very positive reviews, currently holding an 85 Metascore on Metacritic. This release finishes Square Enix’s remake of the classic Erdrick Trilogy. If you’re new to these remakes, it’s recommended to play last year’s Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake first, as its story takes place earlier in the timeline. Netflix has been working to expand into gaming for a while now, but as Amazon recently demonstrated, it’s a challenging undertaking, even for large, well-funded companies. Shinichi Manabe is leading this project. He previously led programming on Rune Factory 3 and directed Rune Factory 4, but now runs ManaGames and is developing this game independently. Joining him is Takanori Tsuji, who wrote the story for both Rune Factory 3 and 4.

Both versions of the game will be available for purchase at retail in limited quantities, with pre-orders open now. The special ‘Signature Edition’ includes unique cover art, a protective slipcase, an interview booklet, four art cards, and other extras. The Signature Edition costs £59.99, while the standard version is priced at £29.99.
