Popular Twitch streamer CaseOh responded to criticism from some of his subscribers after he temporarily stopped playing to allow viewers who don’t subscribe to finish watching ads.
It’s frustrating when ads interrupt a stream or video, especially during important parts – like a crucial moment in a story-driven game.
Some live streamers schedule specific times for ads, often at the beginning of each hour, so viewers know when to expect interruptions. On Twitch, you can avoid these ads by subscribing to a channel or getting Twitch Turbo, but not everyone wants to pay for that.
Twitch streamer CaseOh caused a stir when he briefly stopped playing during an important part of the game because viewers who hadn’t subscribed were watching advertisements.
CaseOh pauses Twitch stream to accommodate non-subs
Case asked his audience whether he should finish the ads before continuing, and the results were mixed. Although most people voted to wait, some viewers still expressed frustration with the brief pause.
He asked his paying members to consider the situation from his perspective: would they want him to wait for others? He pointed out it was only a minute and reminded them that they were privileged to be part of the conversation, something he facilitates a few times a week, urging them not to complain.
When one viewer threatened to cancel their subscription, CaseOh challenged them to actually do it.
“Unsubscribe right now, Danny, I’m telling you. Do it immediately!” he exclaimed. “Just you wait, now you’ll be seeing ads everywhere, and then you’ll wish you hadn’t unsubscribed!”
Seriously, it’s only eight dollars a month. It’s hard to fault someone for not wanting to spend an extra eight dollars when money is tight. While eight dollars might not seem like much, it *is* money, and not everyone has it. If you can comfortably afford it, why not buy a subscription for ten people who can’t?
CaseOh reacted to viewers complaining about him briefly pausing his game stream so others could watch ads during a crucial moment. He jokingly suggested that those upset should either subscribe (it’s only $8 a month!) or that he could gift subscriptions to 100 non-subscribers.

The incident quickly spread on social media, with one video of it getting more than 3.5 million views. However, the majority of people who saw the clip applauded the streamer’s decision to stop what they were doing.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people say CaseOh is one of the few streamers who really gets what everyday life is like, which I totally agree with. And honestly, I wish more Twitch streamers would just take a quick break during ads instead of trying to fill every second – it would be so much more relatable and, frankly, a little more chill.
