One of Avowed’s notable advantages lies in concealing objectives and rewards across the map, encouraging you to delve deep into the Living Lands for a comprehensive experience. Daring adventurers who ascend Claviger Lighthouse will be directed back down again to uncover pirate treasure hidden beneath the ground, guided by Captain Henqua’s Spoils treasure map.

To begin your quest for Captain Henqua’s hidden treasure, make your way to the lighthouse situated west of Claviger’s Landing. Upon arrival, ascend the tower exterior until you come across a skeleton on one of the platforms. Since the skeleton won’t be needing its belongings anymore, search their bones to uncover Captain Henqua’s treasure map.

When you’re exploring this game world, don’t forget to grab the Woedica totem fragment while you’re at it! Truth be told, tracking it down isn’t a walk in the park, but if I could go back, I’d take on the Intimidating Feline Codpiece quest later. That’s because the clues for this one seem more familiar and easier to follow with its distinct landmarks along the way.

Captain Henqua’s Spoils treasure map location

The hidden treasure of Captain Henqua lies inside an eastern river cave, not far from the ancient Old Pargrun Wall in Dawnshore, as well as the useful Western Pargrun Wall Beacon. It’s also close to the smuggler’s lift and the outer defenses of Paradis.

To reach this location:

  1. Travel to the Western Pargrun Wall fast travel point
  2. Take the path along the river to the east
  3. You’ll arrive at the large archway depicted in the treasure map. At the base of this structure, near tree roots, dive into the water to find a cave opening
  4. Swim inside the cave and pop back up to find a small opening.

The significant prize on this treasure map is the Wind and Wave exclusive shield, located near a treasure chest. This shield offers a 10% boost to movement speed and a 20% defense against frost damage build-up, making it an excellent option for a warrior’s setup at the beginning of the game, although I personally favor Unflinching Duty, which can be found earlier in the main storyline.

Not only that, but there’s a chest full of coins and useful crafting supplies waiting to be plundered, ideal for enhancing your equipment. By the way, don’t overlook the nearby Adra location submerged underwater at the foot of the smuggler’s lift; it’s directly ahead as you exit the cave where Captain Henqua hid his treasure.
