The Thursday-night debut of Cameron Diaz’s return-to-acting film, “Back in Action,” in New York City has been called off due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

Because of the devastating fires, we have decided to postpone the ‘Back in Action’ New York City premiere. We understand that many people within our industry are impacted by these events, and our sympathies go out to them during this difficult time. We regret any trouble this might cause and appreciate your patience.”

“The tragic fires have led us to cancel the ‘Back in Action’ New York City premiere. Our thoughts are with those affected within our industry, and we extend our sympathies to them during this challenging period. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

After an absence of 11 years from acting, Diaz reappears on the silver screen in the spy action comedy, appearing alongside her “Annie” co-star Jamie Foxx. The film revolves around Diaz’s and Foxx’s characters, Emily and Matt, who are a retired CIA couple. Their peaceful suburban life is disrupted when their secret identities are unexpectedly revealed, forcing them to return to action.

“Back in Action” will premiere on Netflix on Jan. 17.

It seems that the premier’s cancelation marks the first significant New York City event postponed due to the Los Angeles wildfires.

Many opening events in Los Angeles have been called off, such as the screenings with red carpets for “Unstoppable,” “The Wolf Man,” and “The Last Showgirl.” The AFI Awards lunch, the BAFTA Tea Party gathering, the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony, and AARP’s Movies for Grownups event have all been rescheduled.

On Wednesday, the deadline for Oscar nomination voting was pushed back by two days as a result of the Southern California wildfires.

The voting period for Academy members started on January 8 and was initially planned to end on January 12. However, it has now been extended to January 14. The announcement of nominations, originally scheduled for January 17, has been postponed to January 19. Conan O’Brien will be the host of the 2025 Oscar ceremony, which is set for March 2.
