Call Of Duty Devs Say Ricochet Anti-Cheating Measures “Did Not Hit The Mark”

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Call of Duty under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from camouflage glitches to wallhacks, and everything in between. The latest iteration, Black Ops 6, has been a rollercoaster ride, with its share of highs and lows.

Activision first implemented its anti-cheating system named Ricochet in 2021 to minimize cheating in Call of Duty games. Despite the company’s claims about its achievements, the group responsible for Ricochet is now admitting that it has faced some issues during Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1.

On Call of Duty’s official blog, the Ricochet team admitted that they failed to implement the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system effectively at the start of Season 1, particularly for Ranked Play. They acknowledged that the allure of recognition and prestige from Ranked Play leaderboards makes it an appealing target for cheaters. Consequently, their teams have been working diligently to improve the situation and create the competitive environment that players expect.

To achieve this, the team has announced that account bans are now taking place every hour, and they’re intensifying their efforts to identify cheaters by conducting more manual reviews of gameplay clips along with the AI systems already deployed using the Replay tool for detecting cheaters and hackers. Moreover, they mentioned that those found cheating will be swiftly removed from the leaderboards due to improved coordination between investigations.

As a gamer, I’ve run into some troubles with Ricochet – my legitimate Call of Duty account got wrongfully banned on more than one occasion, but fortunately, they were eventually reinstated. Upon the release of Black Ops 6, it seemed like every corner of the Ranked mode was infested with cheaters. Activision attributed this to an outage that apparently reduced Ricochet’s effectiveness when it comes to detecting AI systems used for catching cheaters.

1) At the end, it asked Call of Duty gamers to flag any cheaters they come across. Furthermore, they mentioned an upcoming enhancement to Ricochet, which is scheduled for release during seasons 2 and 3 of Black Ops 6.

Recently, Activision has released a new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to fix other problems in the game. Meanwhile, players have found an Easter egg that can end the game in Black Ops 6’s Nuketown. Furthermore, Treyarch hinted at a partnership between Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Netflix’s Squid Game.
