Butt-controlled fighting game is getting its own esports tournament

A unique fighting game that’s controlled by… well, shaking your rear, has now entered the world of esports! Players can officially compete in tournaments by skillfully wiggling their way to victory.

Okay, so you guys know Ketsu Battler, right? That crazy Switch fighting game where you literally move your hips to control the character? Well, get this – it’s getting its first official esports tournament! It’s happening in Japan on January 18th, 2026, as part of the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Cygames Cup. Apparently, the organizers are super excited because it’s going to be the world’s first esports competition controlled by… well, your butt! I can’t even imagine what that’s going to look like, but I’m definitely intrigued!

The upcoming event will determine the first-ever Ketsu Battler champion through a tournament limited to 128 players. The top three finishers will each receive a signed illustration card from Takade Naotaka, the creator of the Ketsu Battler manga, as well as unique prizes created for this special occasion.

The announcement also excitedly states that Ketsu Battler will “finally compete in e-sports tournaments,” a statement that’s arguably the most enthusiastic ever seen in a video game press release.

According to Automaton, the competition will be a single-elimination tournament. Matches will start as best-of-three, and the final rounds will be best-of-five. Unusually, players don’t use any buttons – instead, all actions, like attacking, blocking, and finishing moves, are controlled by how vigorously players move their hips.

Just over a year after its release on Nintendo Switch on December 12, 2024, the game is now taking a big step forward in competitive play. It originally started as a lighthearted fighting game, but quickly became popular thanks to its innovative motion controls.

I was so surprised to hear about Ketsu Battler! Apparently, when people started testing out the Switch 2, they found that its extra power accidentally made some of the attacks – specifically, the ones involving, well, that – way faster and stronger. It made headlines in June, and it’s honestly hilarious and awesome!

If you enjoyed watching major esports events like the League of Legends World Championship and the CS Major Championships, get ready for something completely different! A brand new esports tournament is coming where competitors will face off in a unique challenge – and it’s all about butts! The winner will be crowned the ultimate champion of this first-of-its-kind competition.
