After a popular online post claimed that none of the original Halo developers currently work at Bungie, a Bungie employee responded by sharing a detailed list of staff who contributed to the Halo franchise and continue to be part of the team.
The conversation began when someone on X questioned the phrase “from the makers of” in marketing, suggesting companies shouldn’t claim credit for games if the original development teams have changed.
The post talked about Bungie’s new game, Marathon, and noted that its marketing emphasizes the studio’s past work on popular games like Halo and Destiny.
Bungie dev lists Halo veterans still working at the studio
A user expressed frustration with game companies using phrases like ‘From the makers of…’ to promote new titles. They argued that individuals create games, not companies, and questioned how many of the original team members still work at the company, using the example of a game boasting ties to ‘Halo’ and ‘Destiny.’
So, someone was saying things about the team behind Marathon, and I was really curious to see what Bungie would say. Elliot Gray, who does UI design and actually worked on the original Marathon, jumped in and shared a huge list of developers who worked on the Halo games and are still at the studio now. It was a pretty clear way of showing the connection and experience they have!
Gray wrote that he needed to share this information with a long list of people: Chris Butcher, Jason Jones, Tom Gioconda, Dave Gasca, Mat Noguchi, Bob Glessner, Lars Bakken, Tyson Green, Dan Miller, Shi Kai Wang, Eric Elton, Steve Cotton, Sam Jones, Mark Uyeda, and James Haywood.
I need to inform Chris Butcher, Jason Jones, Tom Gioconda, Dave Gasca, Mat Noguchi, Bob Glessner, Lars Bakken, Tyson Green, Dan Miller, Shi Kai Wang, Eric Elton, Steve Cotton, Sam Jones, Mark Uyeda, and James Haywood about this.

He then followed the post up with two additional replies listing even more names.
This is a quick list of people I know who worked on a Halo game and are still employed at Bungie.
Many of the people Gray named were part of the team that created the original Halo games at Bungie. For instance, Jason Jones was one of the company’s founders, and developers such as Lars Bakken and Tyson Green also contributed to Halo before later working on Destiny and other Bungie projects.
