‘Buffy’ Star Sarah Michelle Gellar Jumps Aboard Action Comedy ‘Stop That Train’

Sarah Michelle Gellar is moving on to a new role after Hulu cancelled the planned reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was going to return as Buffy Summers, guiding a new group of vampire hunters in a show called Buffy: New Sunnydale, but that project didn’t move forward. Now, she’s joining the cast of Stop That Train, a funny and fast-paced action comedy with RuPaul, which is connected to the world of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is joining Nicole Richie and Raven-Symone in the upcoming movie Stop That Train, according to Variety. Gellar will play herself in the film, which promises plenty of celebrity cameos – including Michelle Visage, Chris Parnell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Charo, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Natasha Leggero, Drew Droege, and Joel McHale. The movie is described as a glamorous, fast-paced train adventure that takes a chaotic turn when drag queens get involved.

Tess and DeeDee work as train attendants on the glamorous Glamazonian Express. When a huge storm threatens to wreck the train, they must team up with the stuck-up first-class staff and President Gagwell to save everyone in this over-the-top, funny adventure.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new role in Stop That Train is a departure from the spooky, supernatural, and thrilling dramas she’s known for. Unlike her popular characters like Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Kathryn Merteuil (Cruel Intentions), and Daphne Blake (Scooby-Doo), she’ll be playing herself in this film. However, she’s a perfect fit for the project because of her existing relationship with RuPaul – she’s previously been a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, making this film a natural step for both of them.

This is a developing story…
