Capcom has released Breath of Fire IV on Steam. They also announced that the original three Resident Evil games are now available on the platform as well.
Over the past few years, all four games were added to GOG.com. Now, on the recently launched Steam pages for these games, GOG.com is credited as the developer.
The PC versions of Breath of Fire IV on Steam and GOG aren’t quite the same. The game automatically applies smoothing to the pixel art on the PC, which can make it look blurry. While the GOG version received an update allowing players to disable this smoothing and achieve a sharper, more authentic pixel look similar to the original PlayStation game, the Steam version doesn’t have this option, meaning the smoothing effect is always present.
The announcement from Capcom can be found below.

Get ready for some classic survival horror! To celebrate 30 years of Resident Evil, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis are all available on Steam today. Plus, the classic RPG Breath of Fire IV is also launching now! Each game is normally $9.99, but you can get them for 50% off for a limited time – the sale ends Wednesday, April 15th at 10:00am PT.
First launched in 1996, the highly praised game Resident Evil became a massive franchise, selling over 183 million copies. The first three games put you in the roles of famous characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Claire Redfield. You’ll need to solve puzzles, avoid traps, uncover secrets, and battle terrifying enemies including Nemesis, Mr. X, and the infamous Lickers.
As a huge RPG fan, I’m really excited about Breath of Fire IV! It’s the fourth game in the series and follows Ryu as he gathers a team of awesome warriors to take down a seriously bad immortal emperor and, you know, save the world. It’s a classic adventure!
The Steam versions of these games stay true to the original gameplay, but also include updates to work smoothly with today’s computers and controllers.
