While Aaron Paul is famous for playing Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, he was also considered for roles in two of Christopher Nolan’s most acclaimed films.
Over ten years ago, the actor received three Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Pinkman, a drug dealer, in Vince Gilligan’s critically acclaimed crime drama, often considered one of the greatest television series ever made.
The series, lasting five seasons plus a film, launched Paul’s career and opened doors to roles in popular productions like Need For Speed, BoJack Horseman, Black Mirror, and Westworld.
But he nearly landed roles in two movies for Nolan, which is a tantalizing idea.
Aaron Paul nearly appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and Interstellar

While Breaking Bad was hugely popular, Paul almost landed roles in both The Dark Knight trilogy and Interstellar, but couldn’t take them because of conflicts with his filming schedule.
I met with Christopher Nolan a few years ago to discuss a different project – I believe it was for *Interstellar* – and he offered me a tiny part in one of his *Batman* films, something I hadn’t remembered until now.
I was working on a different film shoot and couldn’t accept the part. It was a very small role, but I wasn’t interested anyway.

The main issue was finding time that worked for everyone, but Paul was thrilled to be considered for a project with Nolan, especially a Batman film.
He shared his love for Batman, explaining that he considers it his favorite superhero because Batman feels more grounded and relatable. Unlike many heroes with extraordinary powers, Batman is essentially a wealthy individual who uses his resources to fight crime and isn’t afraid to get serious.
The actor didn’t say which role he’s up for, but it seems to be a smaller part, not a leading one. He recently watched ‘The Dark Knight’ and jokingly said it made him think about how great it would have been to have even a brief appearance in one of those films – ‘just 30 seconds’ would have been amazing, he said.
While it’s still possible Paul will appear in the next Batman movie with Robert Pattinson, you can check out our ranking of Christopher Nolan’s films in the meantime, and learn about his upcoming project, The Odyssey.
