Aaron Paul, known for his role in Breaking Bad, is joining the video game world with the upcoming game, Dispatch. This marks his first time lending his voice to a video game. He recently told Screen Rant that, despite receiving many offers for different projects, he usually declines them.
What convinced him to join the project? He said that while he received many scripts and a preview of the game, one specific scene really stood out and connected with him.
He explained that he really enjoyed the mood created by the scene – just two characters casually talking while sitting on top of a billboard.
Paul then read the scripts and enjoyed them so much that he says he “couldn’t stop.”
I was immediately captivated by the story. It felt authentic and compelling. After meeting the people who created it and forming a strong connection with them, deciding to move forward was an easy choice, he explained.
Dispatch boasts a stellar voice cast including Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright, alongside Laura Bailey and Matthew Mercer. According to creative director Nick Herman, Aaron Paul was their first choice to play the lead character, Robert Robertson, but they were surprised he accepted the role. Herman shared that casting director Linda Lamontagne predicted Paul would connect with the script, and she proved to be right.
Dispatch is a funny, story-driven adventure game made by AdHoc Studio – the team behind some popular Telltale Games titles. You play as Paul Robertson, a former superhero who now works as a dispatcher for other heroes. It comes out on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 22nd, and you can try a free demo on Steam right now.
Although this is Paul’s first time *playing* a video game, he previously appeared in the 2014 film *Need for Speed*, which was inspired by the popular racing game franchise.
