Many people still consider Breaking Bad the best TV show ever made. But with a sequel movie and a prequel series already out, is the story truly finished? According to its creator, Vince Gilligan, there’s potential for more stories set in that world, thanks to the show’s compelling characters and the talented actors who played them.
Gilligan is currently promoting his new show, Pluribus, on Apple TV. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he discussed the possibility of revisiting Breaking Bad with a reboot or continuation, suggesting it’s not entirely off the table.
There are many possibilities for continuing the Breaking Bad universe, including spin-offs focusing on characters from Better Call Saul. We had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented actors on both shows – it was a real privilege. I believe any of the main actors from either series could lead their own TV show. The same is true for the fantastic cast of El Camino. Scott MacArthur and Scott Shepherd were particularly outstanding, and Jesse Plemons has become a huge star – and rightfully so, as his performance was exceptional.
Another ‘Breaking Bad’ Spinoff Has One Big Issue

AMC
Many TV shows overstay their welcome, and that’s a big reason why Bryan Cranston (known as Gilligan) isn’t eager to revisit his role in Breaking Bad. He worries that any future continuation of the series could disappoint fans.
I’ve spent two decades working on ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul,’ and while I still enjoy it, I’m eager to play a genuinely good character for a change, instead of someone morally ambiguous or outright bad. I’m also afraid of ruining what people love about those shows, so I’d rather not risk doing more just for the sake of it, even if it means leaving some potential stories untold.
I’d hate for the show to end on a bad note. It’s better to leave people wanting more than to have them remember the finale as something terrible that ruins their overall impression. I really want to avoid that at all costs.
Despite many characters potentially deserving their own series, it’s unlikely we’ll see any spinoffs anytime soon. For another show to happen, there would need to be a compelling story and strong confidence that it could match the quality of both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul before revisiting that world.
