Brainiac DCU Actor Possibly Revealed After Screen Test

An actor who might be under consideration to play Brainiac in the DCU has been revealed.

Scheduled for a summer 2027 release in US theaters, ‘Man of Tomorrow’ continues the story begun in the 2025 film ‘Superman’. Directed by James Gunn, the movie from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures will once again star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Who may have auditioned for the role of the DCU’s Brainiac?

James Gunn hasn’t spoken about this yet, but TheWrap has confirmed that Brainiac will be the main villain in ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’. They haven’t announced who will play the role, but one actor is starting to be considered.

According to Scooper @ApocHorseman from Nexus Point News, actor Claes Bang recently auditioned for the role of Brainiac in the DC Universe. However, several other actors are also being considered, so the casting decision hasn’t been made yet.

Claes Bang is an actor known for playing Dracula in the 2020 BBC/Netflix series. He’s also appeared in several popular TV shows, including The Affair, The Outlaws, Bad Sisters, and The New Look. On the big screen, Bang starred as Christian in Ruben Östlund’s The Square, and has been in films like Jungle Child (2011), The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018), The Northman (2022), and The Great Arch (2020), among others.

I’m hearing some news about who might play Brainiac, but honestly, it’s probably just a rumor for now. Casting decisions are still likely a ways off, so we should wait for an official announcement before getting too excited.

The new Superman movie, “Man of Tomorrow,” will be released on July 9, 2027. You can currently watch previous Superman films on HBO Max.
