Despite its flaws, the Two Blue Vortex arc faces an uphill battle to repair its reputation within the Naruto story. However, a recent surprising turn of events might recapture fan interest. It feels logical for Boruto, Naruto’s son, to become the next host for the Nine-Tailed Beast, continuing a familiar pattern. This idea seemed impossible, though, after chapter 55 of the Boruto manga, when Kurama died using Baryon Mode against Isshiki. That moment effectively ended the era of the Nine-Tailed Beasts and removed a key element of the series’ storytelling.
I was really surprised by the latest twist in Two Blue Vortex. It felt a lot like when Kaguya first appeared in Shippuden – totally unexpected! What’s even more interesting is that the legacy of the Nine-Tailed Beasts has been revived, but not through Boruto. Instead, it’s Himawari, who wasn’t really considered a powerful character before, who seems to be stepping into Naruto’s shoes. One of the biggest complaints about Boruto has always been how closely it mirrored Naruto‘s story. This new development might be the series’ attempt to break away from that pattern, though it’s still too early to say if it’s working.
Boruto Was Never The Most Likable Protagonist
I’ve noticed a lot of the criticism surrounding Boruto seems to focus on Boruto himself, the main character. Honestly, it’s tough being the son of Naruto! Fans grew up with Naruto’s journey, and it’s been hard for some to feel the same connection with Boruto, especially coming right after such a beloved series.
Boruto initially came across as spoiled and entitled, seemingly relying on his father’s fame. Unlike Naruto, who earned his success through hard work and humility, Boruto lacked those qualities at first. While he did mature, fans often disliked him because the story frequently protected him with unbelievable luck and unexplained increases in strength.
As the series continued, many fans disliked Boruto, especially when Naruto and Sasuke started appearing in fights but seemed weaker than usual – as if they were deliberately made less powerful to make Boruto look stronger. Thankfully, the Two Blue Vortex arc is now showing a clearer difference in their power levels.
Looking back, it always seemed unlikely Boruto would truly be able to handle that kind of power. While he looks a lot like his dad, Naruto, their abilities are actually quite different. Once Boruto received the Karma Seal, I think fans should have seen he wasn’t going to become the next host for that power. His story feels more aligned with Sasuke’s, actually – despite being more outgoing, Boruto’s been heading down a path that feels a bit like a lone wanderer. And it’s important to remember Hinata’s story needs its own impact, and I think Himawari is going to be the one to provide that.
Himawari Should Have Been on Everyone’s Radar Sooner
While Himawari won’t be the main character, she’s actually a much better fit to inherit the power of the Nine-Tailed Beast than Boruto. She possesses strong emotional awareness and intelligence – qualities Boruto has consistently struggled with. This also continues Hinata’s legacy, as Himawari, like her mother, doesn’t need to be the center of attention to prove how powerful she is. In many ways, Himawari embodies the best qualities of both her parents, something Boruto doesn’t quite achieve.
The story hinted that Himawari was meant for something special, and this was confirmed in chapter 77 of Boruto. Daemon, a powerful character, sensed incredible energy within young Himawari—energy comparable to some of the strongest fighters he’d ever faced. This felt similar to how people reacted when they learned Naruto had the powerful Kurama sealed inside him as a child. Looking back, this foreshadowing was apparent from the very beginning.
Early in the story, a strange moment involving Himawari was largely ignored by fans, who thought it was just a joke or a distraction. It seemed unbelievable that such a young child could possess such a powerful presence. However, in retrospect, this scene was actually the first hint of Himawari’s incredible chakra abilities, potentially making her one of the most powerful characters in the Naruto series. The writers could have easily kept her as a supporting character, used for emotional impact after battles or in flashbacks. Instead, this revelation establishes her as a crucial player in the overall power dynamics.
Boruto Announces The End of an Era For Jinchuriki

It seems strange that Himawari and Kurama got along so quickly. Usually, becoming a jinchuriki—someone who houses a powerful beast—takes a long time to adjust to. Naruto, for example, spent sixteen years overcoming Kurama’s negative feelings before he could fully control his power, and he still struggled with inner conflict. Himawari’s immediate connection with Kurama suggests she might have a unique and powerful bond with the Nine-Tailed Beast, different from anyone else who’s carried its power.
Kurama noted that Himawari connected with his chakra more easily than any other host. It’s been confirmed she’s a reincarnation of a tailed beast, similar to Jura. Himawari can heal herself and others using Kurama’s powerful chakra, a skill Naruto only achieved after mastering Six Paths Sage Mode, and even then, it was very rare.
Watching the story unfold in Two Blue Vortex, it’s clear there are big changes happening with the history of jinchuriki. It almost feels like the series is creating a completely new power structure, especially with how quickly Himawari is gaining strength. The age of jinchuriki seems to be definitively over in Boruto, now replaced by the idea that the Tailed Beasts can simply live inside people. And it all comes down to the fact that Naruto, as the Ten-Tails’ host, became truly aware – making him even stronger than Isshiki ever was.
Currently, only one person hosts a Tailed Beast in the world of Boruto. If Killer Bee were to lose his, the new generation of Tailed Beasts would completely take over. In Naruto, the relationship between humans and Tailed Beasts was often a struggle, but Boruto aims for a more peaceful connection between them. Just as Boruto and Himawari are redefining the Uzumaki family, this new approach to power is marking a fresh start for the entire Naruto saga.
