Borderlands 4’s First Paid DLC Brings New Story-Based Missions, Bosses, And Legendary Loot

The first paid downloadable content for Borderlands 4 is coming out on November 20th. Called Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, it will add a new story with fresh missions, enemies, and powerful legendary weapons.

Gearbox Software revealed details at PAX Australia on October 11th about a new event in their game. In the game’s world, a holiday similar to Christmas, called Mercenary Day, is under threat from a villainous character. Players, as Rush and the vault hunters, must use weapons, explosives, and special abilities to set things right.

In addition to rewards earned from completing missions and finding collectibles – such as new Drone Skins or Vault Hunter Styles – players will unlock a Vault Card with even more goodies. This card includes 24 cosmetic items to collect, plus 4 pieces of gear that can be re-rolled repeatedly, giving you a chance to get the perfect stats on each weapon.

The Bounty Pack 1 Vault Card loot:

  • 4 rerollable weapons
  • 4 Vault Hunter Heads usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
  • 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe
  • 5 Weapon Skins
  • 5 Vehicle Skins
  • 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins
  • 2 ECHO-4 Attachments

Players who bought the Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition will automatically receive Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day. It’s also available to buy separately as downloadable content, or as part of a bundle that includes all four bounty packs.

Gearbox announced that Borderlands 4 will feature free seasonal content, starting with a mini-event called Horrors of Kairos. Running from October 23rd to November 6th, this event will challenge players with difficult world bosses appearing in areas with blood rain. Defeating these bosses gives players a chance to earn new, powerful legendary items. Plus, Gearbox will be giving away new cosmetic items for the season using SHiFT codes.

Later this year, players can expect new endgame challenges, starting with a difficult boss called Bloomreaper the Invincible. Fighting Bloomreaper will feel like tackling a raid – you’ll need to carefully plan your character’s skills and equipment to survive its massive health and strong attacks. Overall, there’s plenty of exciting content coming for Borderlands fans.
