Borderlands 4 PC Patch Coming Today, Fixing Performance And Bugs Is A “Top Priority” For Gearbox

Borderlands 4 came out on September 12th and quickly became very popular on Steam, with over 300,000 people playing at the same time. However, the PC version has had some problems, and players have reported various technical issues and performance problems. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has responded with some posts that have caused controversy.

Gearbox is actively working to fix problems with the PC version of the game. They’ve already released updates to improve stability and performance, and another update is coming out today, September 18th. The developers have stated that fixing these PC issues is their main focus, though they haven’t yet shared specific details about what the new update will include.

Gearbox has responded to player feedback, stating they are reviewing all comments. Alongside the upcoming second PC patch, they’re currently testing a field of view (FOV) slider for console versions and will share details shortly. They are also aware of performance issues reported by console players and are working on fixes with planned updates.

Gearbox reports that Borderlands 4 has been played by millions of players, though 2K Games hasn’t shared official sales figures yet.

To put that in perspective, Borderlands 3 sold 5 million copies to stores in its first five days back in 2019, making it 2K’s fastest-selling game ever. It’s important to note that ‘sell-in’ refers to sales to retailers, while ‘sell-through’ means sales directly to customers.

While Borderlands 3 has sold over 23 million copies, Borderlands 2 remains the most popular game in the series, with more than 30 million units sold. Looking ahead, Borderlands 4 is expected to launch on the new Switch 2 console on October 3rd, potentially expanding its reach even further.
