2K and Gearbox Software have announced that Borderlands 4, planned for the Nintendo Switch 2, is now delayed. A new release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Okay, so the game’s getting delayed, but honestly, I’m okay with that! The team wants more time to really polish things and make sure it’s the best experience possible, which I totally appreciate. They also said the delay helps them get cross-saves working, which is HUGE! You can read the official announcement from the Borderlands account if you want all the details.
Hi Borderlands fans, we’re letting you know that Borderlands 4 on the new Nintendo Switch 2 will be delayed. We didn’t make this decision easily, but we want to make sure the game is the best it can be, and it needs a little more time for development and polishing. We’re also working on adding cross-save functionality, which is important to many of you, and want to release the game alongside that feature. We’ll share a new release date as soon as we have one.
Nintendo is canceling all existing digital pre-orders. You can cancel your pre-order yourself now, or it will be canceled automatically starting Friday, September 26th. If you have questions about the Nintendo eShop, please visit https://bit.ly/4niZo7h. For physical pre-orders, contact the store where you placed your order.
We’re incredibly grateful for the support, feedback, and patience of our fans and community – you’re the reason we’re able to keep doing what we love.
