Borderlands 4 devs take the bull by the horns and make efforts to fix the failed shooter’s launch on PC and consoles

Update (19th September)

The game received a new update for PC yesterday, and the main goal was to make it run better. Here’s what the announcement said:

This update makes the game more stable and improves how you advance. We’ve also adjusted the rewards in the Gilded Glory Pack to make everything flow more smoothly. To make sure the update works correctly and avoid issues when finding matches, please restart your game.

Original news (15th September)

Borderlands 4’s launch wasn’t quite the success Gearbox Software was aiming for. While critics generally liked the game – giving the PC version an average score of 84 out of 100 on Metacritic – player reviews on Steam have been mixed. As we reported last week, this is largely due to performance issues. The developers are already working on fixes to improve the game.

On September 13th, the developers released an update designed to improve game stability and performance. According to PCGamesN (via 3Djuegos), the patch successfully stabilizes frame rates, significantly reducing previous drops. This is just the beginning, however, as the developers have announced plans for further updates and will share more details soon.

The developers also want players to know that changing the graphics settings will trigger a shader recompilation process, which could take as long as 15 minutes. They’ve also released helpful optimization guides for NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards that can improve game performance and fix any issues you might encounter.

Gearbox is exploring options to bring the game to consoles and wants to let players on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 adjust their field of view settings.
