Booker T gets honest on new WWE 2K26 role

Now that the early access version of WWE 2K26 is available, players who purchased the standard edition will be able to start playing in just a few days.

This year’s game features several gameplay improvements and the biggest selection of wrestlers ever. It also has a fresh commentary team! While Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton are still calling the action, Wade Barrett and Booker T are joining them as new commentators.

Booker T, a wrestling Hall of Famer, has a special role in the new game this year: he’s both a playable character and a commentator. In a recent interview with 2K promoting the upcoming release of 2K26, Booker T shared his experience stepping into the commentary booth for the first time.

Honestly, getting to work with 2K and hear my voice in the game is incredible! It was a lot more work than I expected, though – seriously, I’ve never done so much reading in my life! It’s funny because I already use a lot of those lines from the game when I’m on NXT. Like, I’m always saying, ‘No bread, no water, just meat!’ and of course, ‘It’s all about checks and championships!’ It’s a really cool full-circle moment.

I’ve enjoyed a long and successful career, and many fans still remember me as a wrestler. It’s interesting now because a lot of younger fans recognize me as a commentator – some of them didn’t even realize I wrestled! So, being included in the video game as a commentator feels amazing – it’s like I’ll be remembered forever.”

This year, 2K Games honored Booker T’s work as a commentator with a special award. He regularly provides commentary for NXT alongside Vic Joseph, and also occasionally appears on the main WWE roster’s commentary team.
