The Indie Game Awards recently changed its Game of the Year winner. After discovering the original winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, used AI, the award was revoked. Blue Prince, a popular indie game, was then named the new winner. The publisher of Blue Prince, Raw Fury, has confirmed that no AI was used in the game’s development.
Raw Fury shared on X that they commend Tonda Ros and his team for creating a game driven by genuine human creativity. They highlighted that the game took eight years to develop, relying on imagination and innovation, and expressed immense pride in Tonda’s accomplishment.
Just to reassure everyone: Blue Prince was made entirely by humans! It’s the work of Tonda Ros and his team, built over eight years with pure creativity and imagination. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created.

In the roguelike puzzle game Blue Prince, you play as Simon P. Jones, who inherits a strange mansion, Mt. Holly Estate, after his great uncle passes away. The mansion contains 45 known rooms, but to claim his inheritance, Simon must discover a hidden 46th room. The catch? The mansion’s layout changes every night, meaning Simon often has to start his search all over again.
Throughout the game, Simon uncovers mysteries that surprisingly connect to his personal history. While not all of these mysteries are fully resolved, this actually enhances the story’s emotional weight. Blue Prince was also highly praised by critics, earning a spot among the best games of 2025.
In May, Ros was very clear that Blue Prince will not receive any DLC or expansions in the future.
Ros shared that their goal was always to launch a fully finished game. They prefer self-contained experiences and didn’t want to constantly update the game with new content, adjust levels, or add downloadable content after release.
Blue Prince is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
