Johanna Faries, president of Blizzard Entertainment, announced that 2026 is shaping up to be Blizzard’s most significant year to date, with exciting plans for fans of Diablo and Warcraft.
In 2026, Blizzard will celebrate its 35th anniversary, and according to Variety, the company’s leadership, Faries, shared that they have exciting plans for the future.
As a Blizzard player, it’s awesome to hear that the whole team is really pushing to make this year the biggest one yet – and they mean it. They’re talking about a completely new, ambitious plan for what’s coming next, and honestly, it’s getting me hyped!
Faries also mentioned that Blizzard is making significant changes and improvements to its popular game franchises, with some of these updates being revealed at BlizzCon 2026 next September.
We’re incredibly proud of everything we’re working on, both for BlizzCon itself and in the months leading up to it. Everyone is focused and working hard, and it’s a really exciting period for us, she explained.
Faries concluded by stating Blizzard’s goal is to become the world’s leading gaming and entertainment company, and she promised that next year’s BlizzCon will showcase this ambition on a larger scale.
She expressed complete confidence that the teams will deliver a fantastic BlizzCon, capturing the spirit our dedicated fans love while also introducing exciting new elements.
So, I’ve been following the gaming industry for a while, and it’s been interesting seeing the leadership changes. Apparently, Johanna Faries spent almost twelve years over at the NFL before switching gears and joining Activision to work on Call of Duty. She really climbed the ladder there, eventually becoming the general manager for the whole series! Then, just recently in February 2024, she took on an even bigger role, becoming the president of Blizzard, taking over from Mike Ybarra. It’s a big move, and I’m curious to see what she brings to the table.
Blizzard has promised some big announcements at the start of BlizzCon. The convention will also bring back the Blizzard Arcade, opportunities to hear from game developers, and chances to play games like World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, and Diablo Immortal. We can expect to see new content for these games unveiled during the event.
Both Diablo IV and World of Warcraft are getting new expansions in early 2026. Diablo IV’s ‘Lord of Hatred’ arrives in April, featuring a popular character affectionately known as the “hot mom,” while World of Warcraft’s ‘Midnight’ will be released in March.
2026 will be Overwatch’s 10th anniversary, and Blizzard is sure to have some exciting things planned. Stay tuned to TopMob for the newest updates!
