As a dedicated CS:GO fan with years of watching and following tournaments under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as we approach the 2025 season of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)! The lineup for this year is nothing short of spectacular, with BLAST, known for their high-quality events and production value, leading the charge.

2025’s Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) season promises a host of major tournaments organized by top-tier event organizers like BLAST, renowned for delivering exceptional events and production quality. Notably, the BLAST format is being revamped, with the organizer now leveraging the Valve Ranking System (VRS) to extend invitations to their events.

For the very first time, an all-female team, Imperial Fe, will participate in a top-tier event of BLAST, which marks the beginning of the BLAST Bounty Season 1 tournament in 2025. This groundbreaking moment has been eagerly anticipated as this talented group of players has previously dominated events in the ESL Impact League, consistently claiming victory and raising their trophies high!

For the first time, Valve’s guidelines are being implemented, and it’s crucial for fans to be informed. Here are some key points: Initially, BLAST extended invitations to 31 teams, chosen based on their VRS rankings. The final spot is reserved for the team that secures the Wildcard position. At this point, only Team Falcons has been granted a Wildcard invitation.

To be eligible for a Wildcard spot, the roster that comply with the following:

  • It includes at least 3 players who individually were members of a top 8 Roster on the VRS at any time during the preceding 12 months or,
  • It has won any Tier 1 event in the 12 months preceding the announcement of the Wildcard Invite.

BLAST has one remaining Wildcard entry left to assign, and they opted to extend invitations to additional teams from the Valorant Regional Stage (VRS) rather than utilizing Wildcard slots.

At present, only Team Falcons fits the specified requirements. Consequently, following Valve’s rules, we’ve extended invitations to the next eligible teams from the VRS, substituting them for two of our originally scheduled Wildcard selections. We still have one more Wildcard pick left to confirm before the end of the year.

In summary, you might be curious about the whereabouts of FURIA Fe as they too rank within the top 28. However, due to tournament rules permitting just one roster per event, both FURIA and FURIA Fe received invitations from BLAST. Unfortunately, the invitation for FURIA Fe was not accepted.
