The proprietor of a company specializing in crisis management, facing allegations that they deployed a “digital army” against Blake Lively, is counter-suing the actress for making false statements (defamation).
On Tuesday, Jed Wallace, proprietor of Street Relations, launched a significant law lawsuit valued in millions against Lively in a federal Texas court. The allegations against Wallace were made in Lively’s own lawsuit and civil rights claim, where she stated that Wallace was involved in Justin Baldoni’s online defamation campaign against her. This activity, she claimed, was in retaliation for her accusations of sexual harassment on the set of “It Ends With Us.
In his court case, Wallace claims he was not involved in the supposed act of retribution. Additionally, he contends that he has endured substantial financial damage to his reputation, as a result of being implicated in the lawsuit.
This is now the fifth legal action taken in relation to the Baldoni-Lively scandal. Previously, Baldoni’s publicists, Jen Abel and Melissa Nathan, were part of a similar defamation lawsuit against Lively and others. They claimed that their lives had been significantly disrupted and they had been subjected to public ridicule due to being falsely accused of orchestrating the negative campaign against Lively.
In reply to Wallace’s lawsuit, Lively’s lawyers argued that it was just another step in a campaign of retribution against Lively.
In another location, another multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Miss Lively is being filed, allegedly with the intention of ruining her for speaking out against sexual harassment and retaliation. This isn’t a publicity move – it’s a clear act of retaliation following the sexual harassment and retaliation claim she made to the California Civil Rights Department. Although this lawsuit will likely be thrown out, we are glad that Mr. Wallace has come forward, and he too will face accountability in a federal court.
The proof that Wallace was involved comes from a text message sent in August by Nathan to Abel, which was obtained by Lively’s lawyers. In this message, Nathan states that “we are succeeding on Reddit,” and credits the information to someone called “Jed.
Based on court documents, it’s stated that Wallace was employed by Nathan in a role where he was tasked with sowing discord and swaying discussions on Reddit platforms, specifically targeting Ms. Lively while defending Mr. Baldoni.
In a lawsuit, Lively’s lawyers asserted that Mr. Wallace characterizes himself as an “independent contractor” and holds a unique method for identifying and predicting artistic styles and trends.
Wallace was listed as a party involved in Lively’s civil rights case, yet he wasn’t identified as the defendant in her legal suit.
On the 21st of January, lawyers representing Lively submitted a document in Hays County, Texas, hinting at their intention to question Wallace in court. However, on Tuesday, this petition was withdrawn.
Wallace’s lawyers contend that Lively’s legal advisors should not be shielded from litigation due to the privileged nature of their communications, as they distributed her civil rights claim to numerous news outlets, leading to headlines that were circulated globally.
The legal action aims to establish that Wallace is not responsible for this issue and also claims compensation for slander, with at least $6 million in punitive damages being requested.
