Blade Star Finally Has Positive Update on the Troubled MCU Movie

The upcoming Marvel Studios film *Blade* has faced a lot of changes behind the scenes, with several writers and directors coming and going since it was first announced. However, the cast has remained stable. Mahershala Ali is still set to star as Blade, and Mia Goth recently confirmed she is still involved in the project, despite the difficulties it has faced.

In a recent conversation, actress Mia Goth confirmed she’s still involved with the upcoming *Blade* movie. She didn’t share many details about the Marvel reboot, but she admitted the numerous delays haven’t personally bothered her, unlike some fans. Goth believes the extra time is beneficial, stating, “They want to do it right.” She first joined the project in April 2023. Although her character hasn’t been revealed, sources previously indicated she was cast as Lilith, the daughter of Dracula from the Marvel comics. However, because the *Blade* script has been revised several times since then, it’s uncertain if she’ll still play that part.

Marvel first announced a new Blade movie at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, and revealed Mahershala Ali would star. However, the film has faced numerous challenges over the past six years, going through two directors (Bassim Tariq and Yann Demange) and several writers, including Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green. As of June 2024, Eric Pearson, who is currently working on the upcoming MCU films Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is the latest writer tasked with revising the screenplay.

Mahershala Ali has only appeared as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through a brief, uncredited voice cameo at the end of the 2021 film *Eternals*. A different version of Blade, who had become Moon Knight, appeared in the animated series *Marvel Zombies*. However, despite using Ali’s appearance, he didn’t provide the voice for that character.

Mia Goth Will Also Appear in a Star Wars Movie

Mia Goth gained recognition for her role in the horror series *X*, but her next projects are much larger in scale. She’s just finished filming for Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey* and is now working on a *Star Wars* film. Goth described the *Star Wars* experience as challenging but rewarding, saying she’s being creatively stretched in new ways. She emphasized that this *Star Wars* movie is a standalone story with original characters and a strong script – it’s not a prequel to existing films.

Mia Goth is reportedly playing a villain who is hunting down the nephew of Ryan Gosling’s character. Director Shawn Levy explained to Elle that they needed a truly unique actor for the role, and Goth perfectly fits the bill. He described her as one-of-a-kind, saying there isn’t a category of actor she fits into – she’s simply Mia.

Blade remains without a release date at this time.
