In spite of its age, the game No Man’s Sky continues to get new updates. The latest release, Worlds Part 2, brought about engine improvements, new missions, and resources. Regrettably, this update also introduced a glitch that results in black dots appearing on the display screen.
Black pixels and background in NMS explained
Earlier mentioned, Worlds Part 2 has been reported to feature an inconvenient graphics issue. Gamers have complained about certain game elements being obscured by black pixels and some experiencing a peculiar screen border. While this doesn’t entirely prevent playability of No Man’s Sky, it remains bothersome.
It seems that certain individuals using AMD graphic cards, particularly those with the Radeon RX 7000 series, or those playing on Mac systems, appear to be more susceptible to encountering this issue.
If you’re among those using this specific GPU and encountering that issue, currently, the solutions available are merely temporary. You might want to adjust your graphics settings or toggle between Full Screen and Windowed mode. This should temporarily restore normal color display.
It appears that the issue with black pixels is addressed in the recently released Experimental Branch 03/02, where users can test upcoming updates. The latest patch notes suggest that several visual glitches have been rectified in this version, and it seems the problem with black pixels is one of them. Nevertheless, the frame issue persists for now.
To try out the experimental update for No Man’s Sky, here’s what you need to do:
1. Find ‘No Man’s Sky’ in your Steam Library and right-click on it.
2. Select the ‘Properties’ option that appears.
3. In the new window, navigate to the ‘Betas’ tab.
4. Type “3xperimental” in the textbox provided.
5. Press ‘Check Code’.
Please note that you’ll need to wait for Hello Games to push this patch to the main branch before you can access it. Enjoy exploring!
