Bitcoin Job Frenzy: What Employers Really Want in 2025

So, here we are in 2025, and guess what? The Bitcoin (BTC) job listings have spiked by a thrilling 6%. Who knew crypto could be so… productive? Spoiler alert: non-developer roles are making all the noise!

The latest data is in, and hold onto your hats, folks! It seems the Bitcoin job market is maturing like fine wine-less about those old dusty degrees and more about community vibes and contributions. Yes, it’s all about fitting in at the cool kids’ table now.

Bitvocation Report: The Job Market Just Got a Bitcoin Makeover

According to the Bitvocation 2025 Bitcoin Jobs Data report, it turns out there’s a lot of action in Bitcoin-only companies. And what defines these exclusive clubs? Well, they must:

  • Only sell Bitcoin products-no funny business with other cryptos!
  • Shout from the rooftops that they’re Bitcoin-only or Bitcoin-first. Seriously, it’s basically their Tinder bio.
  • Contribute to the Bitcoin ecosystem. Think open-source development and community outreach-like the cool charity events but for Bitcoin.

Drumroll, please: 2025 saw a whopping 1,801 unique Bitcoin-related job listings. That’s a 6% increase from last year’s sad 1,707. Progress, people!

Bitcoin-only firms accounted for 47% of these listings (up from 42%-slow and steady wins the race), while Bitcoin-adjacent companies held the remaining 53%. Can you feel the competitiveness brewing?

Among Bitcoin-only companies, growth was spread out like peanut butter on toast. There are 154 such firms, each bringing in an average of 6 new hires. Not bad, right?

Riot Platforms might be leading the pack, but let’s not get too excited-they barely left a dent. Still, the top 10 Bitcoin-only employers saw a staggering 122% year-over-year growth. Who knew crypto could grow so fast?

“This is a distributed ecosystem. Growth isn’t concentrated in a few giants – it’s spread across mining, lightning network, financial services, and self-custody companies building at sustainable scale,” the report chirped.

On the flip side, hiring at Bitcoin-adjacent companies is more like a game of musical chairs, with Bitdeer hogging nearly a third of all adjacent roles. That’s 307 postings, if you’re keeping score. The top 10 in this segment captured a jaw-dropping 85% of the positions. Talk about a monopoly!

And guess what? Non-developer roles are truly rocking it, making up 74% of all positions-up from last year’s 69%. The Product Manager position is basically being crowned prom queen, while director-level hiring is getting hot and heavy. Looks like companies are ready to expand their empires!

As for tech roles? Software engineers are in high demand, especially the senior ones. Apparently, the secret sauce is having the right experience, or maybe just being fabulous.

“Bitcoin-only companies lean toward mining, media, and design, and hire more at entry and leadership levels. Bitcoin-adjacent companies lead in finance, HR, and engineering, with a preference for senior and mid-level experience,” the report noted.

Bitcoin Job Growth: US Takes the Crown, With Asia Joining the Party

Meanwhile, the US continues to strut its stuff in the Bitcoin job market, boasting more roles than the rest of the globe combined. Asia is not far behind, flexing its muscles with impressive growth.

Singapore took the cake with a 158% increase in job postings, thanks to one big player. And let’s not forget those underdog nations like El Salvador, Bhutan, and Brazil-they’re showing that Bitcoin-friendly policies can bring home the bacon.

“The Americas are Bitcoin-only territory. North America leads with 309 Bitcoin-only jobs. Europe and Asia lean Bitcoin-adjacent, with a few exceptions,” Bitvocation cheekily pointed out.

Remote work? Still a big deal, even though its popularity dipped. In 2025, 809 roles (that’s 45%, if you’re counting) were remote-a drop from last year’s 53%. But hey, Bitcoin-only companies still love their distributed teams, with 56% of roles going remote. They’re basically living in a Zoom world!

What Bitcoin Employers Are Really Looking For

In 2025, Bitcoin employers said their biggest headache wasn’t the number of applicants, but rather finding the unicorns. You know, candidates who have the perfect blend of skills, mindset, and ecosystem knowledge. Good luck with that!

Forget about the glossy resumes; employers want proof of work. Show them your open-source contributions, community service, or even your TikTok dance moves-something that screams “I’m part of the Bitcoin family!”

“The hardest roles to fill cluster at two ends: highly specialized technical positions (Bitcoin Core, Lightning, security) and nontechnical roles that require translating Bitcoin’s values into product, growth, operations, or communication,” the report also added, because why not add a sprinkle of drama?

Versatility is the name of the game. Early-stage Bitcoin companies are on the hunt for multi-talented individuals who can juggle tasks like a circus performer. Strong communication skills are gold, especially for those trying to make Bitcoin principles sound less like rocket science and more like, well, relatable.
