Brief spoilers for Landman Season 2 lie ahead.
Wow, Season 2 of Landman just wrapped up, and everyone’s talking about it! I’m already deep in online discussions because so many questions are left hanging, and honestly, I’m a little anxious about where things are going with the characters in Season 3. On top of that, there was some buzz going around that Billy Bob Thornton might be leaving the show, which would be a huge loss. But he’s come out and completely denied those rumors, and he didn’t hold back at all! It’s good to hear him set the record straight.
Billy Bob Thornton is known for being outspoken, so it wasn’t surprising when he reacted strongly to rumors that he wouldn’t return for another season of the Taylor Sheridan series Landman. Despite the show being quickly renewed, Thornton told USA Today he believes the rumors originated from “AI-generated crap.” He went on to explain his thoughts further.
I’ve been seeing these AI-generated reports claiming Demi and I are dating, and another one saying I’m quitting the show. Honestly, they’re completely made up – none of it is true!
Lately, artificial intelligence has become a hot topic, especially in Hollywood and beyond. Actors, writers, directors, and other creative professionals are trying to understand how AI will change their work. Some stars, like Thornton and his co-star Demi Moore, are even facing issues with deepfakes and digital copies of themselves. However, Thornton wants to make one thing clear: he plans to continue with his show through at least Season 3.
I’ll be there.

Michelle Randolph discussed how she worked to make her characters in ‘Landman’ and ‘1923’ appealing to audiences, even though they initially seemed unlikeable.
According to USA Today, filming for the third season of Landman is scheduled to begin this spring. While Paramount hasn’t announced an official release date yet, the first two seasons both premiered in November—in 2024 and 2025, respectively. This suggests the new season might also be released around the same time this year, though that’s not confirmed.
The second season of Landman has been packed with developments, particularly for the character of Tommy. In the second-to-last episode, Tommy was surprised when Cami, the owner of M-Tex, fired him as president because she felt he wasn’t taking enough chances. The show has also explored Tommy’s family life, largely through his relationship with his father, T.L. Norris, played by new cast member Sam Elliott. The actors Thornton and Elliott have strong chemistry, making their father-son dynamic feel authentic.

It’s unclear when we’ll get details about season three, especially since season two just finished. However, fans can be happy to know Billy Bob Thornton will return when filming begins. Hopefully, things will improve for his character, Tommy Norris, in the next season.
