Big game show this week has been confirmed. Nintendo Direct will be really long and will almost certainly bring a release date for a highly anticipated sci-fi game

As summer winds down, it’s time for some exciting events in the gaming world. Before heading off to Tokyo Game Show, we have another significant milestone: the upcoming Nintendo Direct event happening on September 12 at 6 AM Pacific Time or 9 AM Eastern Time.

As per Nintendo’s recent announcement, the broadcast is set to run approximately an hour long, and it will primarily highlight forthcoming titles for both the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Switch 2. You can tune in to this exciting event on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel.

On the cards for this upcoming event seems to be a focus on celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic Super Mario Bros. series, which falls on Saturday. Last time around during their 35th anniversary, Nintendo unveiled games like Super Mario 3D + World: Bowser’s Fury and the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. Given this pattern, it’s quite probable that we might catch a sneak peek of a fresh project starring our favorite mustached plumber during Friday’s show.

There is a lot of excitement for the upcoming launch of Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, as suggested by recent age ratings in South Korea, USA, and Brazil. It seems we might soon hear an official announcement about its release date.

It’s possible that during the show, Nintendo might unveil other games they’ve previously announced. By year’s end, the Nintendo Switch is expected to receive several titles including Pokemon Legends: Z-A (releasing on October 16), Kirby Air Riders (available from November 20), and Metroid Prime 4, as mentioned before.

In the future, we’ll be receiving Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (expected winter 2025-2026), Splatoon Raiders (no release date yet), and two games – Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – which are scheduled for 2026.

It appears that this coming September’s Nintendo Direct may end up as one of the most intriguing presentations from the Japanese company in a while.
