Yet another actor who previously starred on “The Big Bang Theory” has agreed to join the upcoming spin-off show being developed by Max.
It’s been verified that John Ross Bowie has inked a talent agreement with Warner Bros. Television, allowing him to return as the character Barry Kripke (or “Kwipke” for those who prefer a more rough-and-tumble approach). In this upcoming project, Bowie will join previously announced cast members Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman, all of whom are set to reprise their roles from the original series.
The potential television show was first mentioned as being in production at Max back in April 2023. Specifics about the storyline are still confidential. As of now, it’s still in development and hasn’t been approved for a series yet. “The Big Bang Theory” co-creator Chuck Lorre is overseeing the new venture through his company, Chuck Lorre Productions. Currently, Lorre is under an agreement with series production studio Warner Bros. Television. Additionally, Zak Penn and fellow co-creator Bill Prady are also involved as executive producers.
On “The Big Bang Theory,” Kripke was a regular physicist colleague at Caltech who often found himself at odds with Sheldon. Bowie first appeared on the show during Season 2, and he continued to make appearances throughout the rest of the series.
Beyond his role on “Big Bang Theory,” Bowie is also recognized for acting in series such as “Speechless” on ABC and “Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim, and in movies like “The Heat” and “Sex Drive.” He is represented by Innovative Artists.
Apart from his stint on “Big Bang Theory,” Bowie is also well-known for appearing in TV shows like “Speechless” on ABC and “Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim, as well as in films such as “The Heat” and “Sex Drive.” He is managed by Innovative Artists.

In addition to his time on “Big Bang Theory,” Bowie gained fame for performing in shows like “Speechless” (ABC), “Children’s Hospital” (Adult Swim), and movies such as “The Heat” and “Sex Drive.” He is represented by Innovative Artists.
All three options convey the same information but are phrased slightly differently to maintain variety and natural flow in the text.
If it proceeds, this will mark the fourth installment in the “Big Bang Theory” universe. The original show aired for an impressive 12 seasons on CBS, while its prequel “Young Sheldon” concluded its seven-season run on the network in May 2024. A spinoff from that series, titled “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” featuring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, made its debut on CBS on October 17, 2024.
Deadline first reported Bowie joining the spinoff.
