BF6 changed the basic mechanics of the series and now players wonder why enemies still know their position

Battlefield 6 launched successfully, outselling Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in Europe during its first week. This means hundreds of thousands of players have already jumped in, and many were likely taken by surprise during their initial gameplay experiences.

Troublesome “diamond”

Don’t be discouraged if you die frequently when you first start playing Battlefield 6. Even experienced players might find themselves getting eliminated often, as the developers have made some significant changes to how the game works.

This update focuses on how opponents are identified. Before now, you could only see enemies on the minimap when they shot, or by manually tagging them with a button to place a marker above their head. Now, in the latest version, enemies are automatically marked above their heads as soon as they fire a weapon within your view.

YouTuber TheXclusiveAce tested how far the tracking works. He found that it reliably marks enemies with a “diamond” for about 75 meters. Beyond that distance, it won’t consistently highlight them after each shot.

Suppressor to the rescue

Players who don’t realize this adjustment often lose close-up fights. They’re highlighted with a diamond, making them unknowingly visible to their enemies. Luckily, there’s a solution to prevent this from happening.

In Battlefield 6, suppressors are key pieces of equipment. They keep you hidden from enemies during close-quarters fights, though you’ll still appear on the minimap within a 15-meter radius. Using a suppressor in close-range combat helps you stay undetected and avoid surprise attacks.
