As a result of Kentaro Miura’s passing in 2021, Berserk is now being penned by his assistant, Koji Mori, within Studio Gaga.
In the latest installment penned by Miura, it was Chapter 364. Subsequent chapters, however, have been developed primarily from Miura’s notes and discussions with his team, particularly Mori, about his ideas for the plotline.
Predictably, the announcement sparked a variety of reactions. While some readers insist that Berserk shouldn’t be continued if Miura isn’t the author anymore, others are still finding pleasure in the narrative. It’s crucial to keep in mind that any choice concerning the story requires the consent of Miura’s family and must uphold his legacy appropriately.
When is Berserk returning?
Chapter 379 is set for release on February 14, 2025, but it’s subject to change.
As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of the new issue of Young Animal magazine today, where our beloved story continues. While we can celebrate this chapter, the publication dates for the upcoming installments remain somewhat uncertain.
Ever since Miura’s passing, there have been numerous breaks in the series. A more casual way to put it would be that the series is currently being published in “stages” or “phases”: some installments are released, followed by a pause, and then the series resumes its run again.
Such an unpredictable timetable might perplex fans since the pauses aren’t often preceded by a specific resumption date.
Yet, these pauses might serve to align the narrative with the blueprint provided by Miura, and they could also necessitate the endorsement of his family (current rights holders) as well as other relevant parties.
