This week’s installment centers on Daisy addressing the challenging day experienced by the chief stew at work, followed by a social event where no less than three of her colleagues express romantic interest in her. Despite her captivating allure towards them, it seems she fails to attract the same attention from the guests. The primary women, Jillian and Sharie, take Glenn aside for feedback on the crew’s performance. They praise the male staff for their dedication but criticize the female staff for not being as attentive. Although comparing the quality of interior and exterior work by gender seems uncomfortable, it’s hard to refute their point that the interior team appeared disengaged and somewhat frustrated behind closed doors. Glenn acknowledges the feedback, and everyone puts on a polite front when bidding farewell.
Glenn’s chat with us was more like a practice run, as during the primaries, everyone gets the same criticism when they pass on tips. They point out the “strain among the women,” which is accurate, but it’s disheartening when even the least favorable person is correct. Daisy mostly brushes off the feedback due to the guests’ hostility, but she does acknowledge feelings of guilt and responsibility for making the crew seem unfriendly towards them. Since being cordial to guests is part of their job duties, it reflects poorly on their professionalism.
In simpler terms, Danni adds to the negative comments by suggesting a conversation with Daisy and accusing the chief stew of losing interest and drive. She also voices complaints from Diana, stating that Daisy is harsh towards them and doesn’t provide clear directions. Daisy responds with a non-apology, implying that it’s Danni who needs clarity on her responsibilities. Daisy denies having a bad attitude and instead accuses Danni of being too assertive for her own good. This interaction leaves neither stew feeling differently. It seems as if Danni might make a video titled “Your Boss Hates You” that’s really just her seeking attention.
Afterward, Daisy engages in a discouraging conversation with Glenn for the second time. During this interaction, she acknowledges some accountability regarding the negative atmosphere but still accuses the guests of being uncooperative. Glenn gently reminds her that she establishes the mood within her department, and they must improve their behavior to manage difficult guests more effectively in the future. Overwhelmed by “this frustrating day,” Daisy needs a moment to stroll around the marina before resuming the review session. Glenn encourages her, assuring her of her capabilities. While it’s noticeable that Daisy is showing progress compared to past seasons by not completely falling apart in response to criticism, some may question whether this constitutes genuine growth or merely cautiousness to avoid upsetting her, so is it truly a sign of maturity?
In the meantime, Danni confides in Diana, who’s taken aback by Danni’s audacity towards their boss. Danni finds it difficult to work for someone like Daisy, whom she believes doesn’t care about her feelings. Diana counters this, asserting that Daisy is considerate and not the most challenging chief stew she’s encountered. Diana implies that Danni’s anger stems from Daisy hindering Danni’s pursuit of romantic interests. Danni expresses her dislike for manipulative tactics, yet continues to stir up the tension by sharing her grievances with Daisy not only with Chase but also with Gary. Despite potentially being romantically involved with Chase, it’s unrealistic for Danni to expect Gary, who’s known Daisy for 90 times longer than Danni and is her long-time friend, to side with her in this matter.
As a film enthusiast, let me tell you, after all the commotion, I found out that the tip was a cool $15,000 for just one night! Not too shabby at all! Daisy was on the brink of tears during our meeting, but her spirits were lifted when she thought about our upcoming night out with Keith. We shared a laugh over the hilarious attempt by Danni to sabotage both our characters. She’s eager to move past what she calls “the worst charter I’ve ever done.
The crew’s evening together isn’t as full of plot twists as the soap opera Glenn is engrossed in, but there’s definitely some mystery brewing. Chase and Danni are still a couple, while Gary expresses curiosity about Keith and Daisy’s situation. Keith feels hesitant to complicate his friendship or work dynamic with Gary, who seems open to their romantic involvement, albeit insincerely: “I’m completely on board.” However, it’s important to note that this doesn’t equate to a full-blown blessing for a serious relationship, which Gary still desires solely for himself and Daisy.
Ignorant of the budding relationship between Daisy and Keith, Cloyce remains smitten by Daisy. He shares his past experience of dating a 23-year-old he met at a swing club when he was just 7 years old. It’s safe to say that many years from now, during therapy sessions, Cloyce might finally understand the price he paid for wanting to grow up so quickly. At the regular bar, however, Cloyde encounters less success when trying to charm Daisy. She politely dismisses him with a “You’re quite endearing.
As a movie enthusiast, I find myself immersed in a captivating scene where I, too, am an onlooker. Daisy and Keith step out for a shared smoke, and in this moment of vulnerability, he admits his deep feelings for her, expressing his desire to meet after the season. A kiss passes between them as Gary watches from a distance, struggling to hide his sorrow under what appears as casual teasing.
In the car, Cloyce learns about the kiss and feels a heavy heartache. Back on the boat, Daisy worries that Gary’s feelings for her and Keith might not be fully reconciled, but Keith’s emotional resilience manages to sway her. The pair share another round of affectionate kisses in her bedroom before parting ways. It appears as though Gary is finally comprehending the reality that Daisy has moved on, yet he still wishes to maintain their friendship. This evening unfolds peacefully for him, a testament to his maturity and understanding.
In simpler terms,
Danni and Chase sleep in what’s known as the master bedroom, a privilege usually granted to the crew members because they clean it. However, Daisy is contemplating revoking this privilege to make things difficult for Danni. Gary proposes that Daisy take Danni out for an ice cream to discuss the issue. But Daisy firmly declines and instead, in the morning, she subtly questions if the crew members need instructions on how to prepare the boat for the day.
In due course, Daisy has a conversation with Danni. Daisy begins by expressing gratitude for Danni’s feedback and appreciation for her work, yet voices disagreement – it is not her responsibility to instill passion. This point can be debated: A manager’s role indeed involves motivating their team. Daisy feels that Danni’s comments about only the junior stews’ initiative being crucial during charters undermined her. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing their respective roles and positions in the team. Unfortunately, Danni fails to comprehend this and continues to believe that Daisy dislikes her because she poses a threat. However, she eventually recognizes the need to apologize and put aside their differences. They reconcile with a hug.
It’s uncertain if Daisy and Keith will continue their affectionate moments. Chase advises Keith that Gary may not mean what he says when agreeing, and we’re shown a flashback of him telling Colin to pursue Daisy last season. This information doesn’t seem to faze Keith: “In the end, we’re all just playful relatives.
The upcoming charter features Detox, a Chicago drag queen and former contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, along with fellow drag queen Lola LeCroix, her sister, and three companions, one of whom is a porn director known for titles like “Sweet Meat” and “Urine.” This group seems ideally suited to the crew’s unique dynamic. As they arrive, Chase helps lower Danni’s skirt, and while it may seem odd to mention, the casual familiarity of the gesture has an undeniable appeal. The atmosphere immediately improves compared to the previous charter. The guests are laughing, poking fun at themselves, and genuinely enjoying their sailing experience. Jason, with his characteristic dry wit: “I finally get sailing now.” The guests express interest in spending time with some of the crew, particularly Daisy, hinting at an intriguing future episode.
In a minor mishap, when fresh fruit was accidentally cut on the same board as an onion by Cloyse, it tasted odd to the guests, but he swiftly rectified this by using a new cutting board and knife. Danni skillfully managed the situation with the guests. The incident seemed to undermine the respect that the guests had for the 12-year-old chef. Everyone at dinner admired his croquettes except Lola, who humorously referred to it as a cheese stick in ball form. This feedback was conveyed to Cloyse by Daisy. The guests were satisfied with the next course, an arugula salad with brûléed goat cheese, though I myself wasn’t particularly impressed. To create a more impressive experience, Cloyse resorted to his usual method of using smoke, but unfortunately, the smoker battery ran out, causing a delay of 13 minutes. Lola grew impatient and retired to her room. The tension mounts as we wait for Cloyse to serve the dishes on time. In an interview, Glenn made a somewhat contrived statement about needing someone he could rely on “at this point in the season.” This statement seems unnecessary because there’s only one charter left. It wouldn’t make sense to replace Cloyse unless his performance was so disastrous that it would cause his termination. I can only hope for such a dramatic turn of events!
