This week’s episode opens with Eddy feeling stressed and confused. He initially stepped in as a friendly replacement for Harry, but now finds himself caught in a complicated situation involving Jenna and Alesia, and he’s struggling to handle it. On the ride back to the Katina after a beach picnic, Mike keeps pressing Jenna about her conversation with Eddy, but she brushes it off, insisting they’re just friends. As the day goes on, with the deck covered in beach gear, Eddy continues to worry about the mess he’s created. He feels even worse because he can’t get a moment alone with Jenna to talk things through, as they’re both swamped with work.
Eddy lashed out at Mike, who was constantly moving between inside and outside as he pleased. Seeing Eddy was upset, Daisy offered to ask Mike for help, and Eddy admitted he’d needed Mike all day. After encouraging Eddy to communicate his needs, Daisy spoke with Mike, telling him to stay on deck until someone asked him to come back in. Eddy relayed this to João, who asked him to check with him first before talking to Daisy. Ultimately, the back-and-forth about who spoke to whom didn’t change the fact that Mike still expected others to manage his whereabouts. When Mike asked João when he could come inside, João explained he’d been trying to coordinate, but Mike kept wandering off.
Mike’s sudden absence might cause issues later, but right now, everyone is concentrating on getting dinner ready. It’s scheduled for 7:30 p.m. indoors, and Mecca has challenged Daisy to create a truly stunning table setting. Ben is incredibly stressed, particularly because one of the ovens isn’t working, but he’s trying to stay positive by utilizing every other appliance in the kitchen. The chef is feeling extra pressure after a difficult conversation with Mecca yesterday, and knowing Jason is joining them for dinner. The captain remembers Ben’s previous disappointing meal, so he’s hoping this elaborate six-course menu will be a success.
Jenna happily changed plans and set a beautiful table after Alesia admitted she wasn’t comfortable with the original, sophisticated theme. Ben and Ellie provided appetizers and caviar for a pre-dinner “cocktail hour,” but Ben and the guests disagreed on how long that should last—the women wanted to be seated after a short while, while Ben wanted it to continue. As Ben and Daisy argued about this, the guests simply took their seats, subtly showing Ben who was in charge. Daisy, being practical, knew it was best to avoid getting drawn into Ben’s outbursts and not take them personally, understanding she needed to choose her battles for their relationship to work. The meal progressed smoothly, and everyone enjoyed the food, except for one octopus dish that wasn’t a hit with everyone. There was some confusion about Ben’s unusual apple pie—served like a calzone with custard—but I knew it was a deliberate surprise. Mecca called Ben, jokingly questioning the meal’s quality, and when he confirmed it was his best, everyone cheered—it was a success. You could see Jason was relieved. I was happy for Ben, who really needed a confidence boost after everything.
Preparing and serving a six-course meal with appetizers is challenging enough, but the guests unexpectedly request caviar pizza to enjoy in the hot tub. Meanwhile, Mike keeps pressing Jenna about Eddy, even after she’s made it clear she doesn’t want to get back together with him. He’s overly curious and now realizes he’s made a mistake by bringing it up, as it’s obvious Jenna isn’t interested in revisiting the relationship. He feels worse about making his friend look bad than he does about neglecting a cleaning task Jenna asked him to do. Daisy hears the request and approves it, but Mike ignores her and goes to bed anyway.
Daisy, not realizing Mike had left, went over the evening’s tasks with Alesia, specifically asking her to remove melted wax from the dining table. Meanwhile, Mecca, enjoying a playful prank after having champagne, asked Alesia to warm up her sheets in the dryer – but she was just kidding! Once the guests were in bed, Alesia felt overwhelmed by all the cleaning still needed, and also by a flood of messages from her boyfriend, whom she’d been ignoring all day. She didn’t get to cleaning until 3 a.m., and even then, she left the back of the bar, the wax, and the leftover champagne and what Ben called “caviar pizza” (really just dry bread with a little cheese) untouched. As a result, she definitely didn’t manage to clean the bar and main saloon to the spotless condition she’d been instructed to.
Jason was the first to discover the mess in the main saloon, and Jenna quickly noticed it too, immediately becoming frustrated. She questioned Mike about when he’d gone to bed, and his defensive response – complaining about only getting an hour’s break the day before, the same as Jenna – revealed his guilt. After waking up, Jenna filled Daisy in on what happened. Daisy then told Mike to finish the work he’d started, which led to him childishly protesting that he didn’t need to be told what to do. Daisy, who had been acting as a mother figure to him, simply insisted he complete his tasks. When Daisy asked Alesia about the mess, Alesia burst into tears. Daisy comforted her with a hug and encouraged her to calm down. Daisy later noted that different crew members require different approaches – Mike responds to directness, while Alesia is more sensitive. However, Daisy is starting to suspect Alesia is manipulative, using her emotional reactions to get away with things. Even if Alesia had been overwhelmed, a simple note to Jenna and Daisy explaining the situation would have been considerate, instead of expecting them to pick up the slack.
Thankfully, this was the last day of the chartered trip. Ben cooked duck for breakfast, and the docking went perfectly. They were also able to pick up the new oven. Mecca, who had been quiet for days, finally expressed how much she enjoyed the vacation, telling the crew it was one of the best she’d ever had. She confirmed this on her feedback card, giving five stars for both the food and the overall experience, with a single suggestion: Alesia should try to smile more. That felt like a minor issue, considering everything! During the tip meeting, Jason noted a few small things that needed attention – melted wax and leftover food – but praised Ben’s work. Everyone received a generous tip of $2,100 from a total of $28,000, and Alesia received a playful ‘award’ – a helmet – for a mistake she made during her overnight shift.
By 3:30 p.m., almost everyone had finished helping turn the boat around, but Ellie was still stuck cleaning the kitchen. Ben had asked her to take over so he could relax with a glass of wine and a bath. Ellie was frustrated to see him strolling around in his robe while she was covered in grease, and she confided in Daisy that she felt used and was nearing her breaking point. While Ben was understandably tired, he could have still enjoyed his bath if he’d helped Ellie with the work – they would have finished much sooner. It seemed he was prioritizing getting ready for dinner with Jenna over helping out.
Back in their cabin, Alesia explained to Jenna that she flirts because she enjoys the attention, but she knows she needs to talk to her boyfriend, Harrison, about her interactions with Eddy. She immediately called Harrison on speakerphone while Jenna listened. Alesia told Harrison she’s flirty, but would never cheat. Harrison seemed confused by what she meant, but Alesia insisted it was nothing and ended the call. It’s hard to see how the conversation helped anything, except maybe making Harrison worry a lot.
During dinner, Eddy tries to be friendly with Jenna, but avoids bringing up their previous argument about text messages. Jenna is initially distant, but she starts to warm up to him. However, Alesia keeps interrupting, causing Jenna to become cold again. After a few drinks, everyone – Alesia, Eddy, and Jenna – is overly sensitive about the situation. I respect that Jenna won’t settle for being someone’s second choice, so she moves to sit with Ben, who is very attentive to her all evening. Eddy looks upset about this. Jason unexpectedly arrives with Alesia’s helmet, which she’d left on the Katina – a violation of the boat’s rules. She clearly feels very much in charge when she’s on board.
Okay, wow, this episode was intense. At the club, we saw Ben and Jenna finally connect on the dance floor, and Daisy and João cautiously exploring things, but clearly holding back. But the real drama? Mike trying to force a kiss on Ellie. Her rejection, and his pathetic plea afterwards – seriously, it was painful to watch. Honestly, Ellie’s been handling everything with surprising grace, and seeing her call out João about that weird ‘dock date’ was a highlight. He just stammered about being nice, which… come on! Then, in the vans on the way home, Jenna finally laid down the law with Eddy. She’s officially done with him, and rightfully so. He completely betrayed her trust, and she has the messages to prove he lied about that awful “drop her like it’s hot” comment. As Lucille Bluth would say, good for her – she absolutely deserves better!
