Mike’s constant talking hadn’t caused serious issues before, but this week things are escalating. Instead of focusing on his work—fixing cabins or cleaning the deck—he’s trying to become a reality TV star. He’s learned from watching shows like the Housewives that creating drama, even when it doesn’t involve you, gets people talking—and that’s exactly what he’s aiming for. Good job, Mike—at stirring up trouble!
The next morning, Jenna immediately told Alesia and Betul that she and Eddy had kissed the night before. It’s worth noting that Betul isn’t involved in any of the drama – she’s mostly annoyed that her work makes her take breaks. As for Alesia, she dismissed the kiss as harmless flirting, suggesting Eddy would have done the same with anyone. While she seemed a little jealous, she did sound logical after a night of drinking. Alesia admitted she shouldn’t have texted Eddy, even if her boyfriend doesn’t mind her being flirty. She figured it was a one-time mistake and nothing serious happened, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
No one could have predicted the drama that would start with a few text messages. While working on the cabins, Mike tried to upset Alesia by saying he’d be angry if he were her boyfriend, but she quickly shut him down. Meanwhile, Eddy apologized to Jenna for their messy kiss and then discovered texts he’d sent to Alesia while drunk – texts he couldn’t even remember sending. He shared them with João, then told Mike. Alesia unexpectedly found them all discussing her messages. Mike confronted her about texting Eddy, and she initially admitted to flirting to boost her own confidence. However, she quickly realized she didn’t owe him any explanation, as he wasn’t her boyfriend or even a close friend. She told him to mind his own business and get back to work. Their argument escalated so much that Daisy and Jason could hear it from where they were.
Okay, so things are really heating up! Daisy basically told Mike to mind his own business and then completely dismissed Alesia’s feelings. Then, Jason playfully mocked Alesia, calling her “Mama Bear.” It’s clear Daisy always treats Mike like a naughty kid – and surprisingly, it works to some extent. But the second she’s out of earshot, Mike immediately runs to Jenna with gossip about Eddy texting Alesia the night before. It’s so frustrating! He just got told to stay out of it, yet he’s stirring up drama and making Eddy look bad, which has Jenna furious because she feels like Eddy used her to try and get Alesia’s attention. I initially thought Mike was just trying to get some attention for himself amidst this whole love triangle, but honestly, it’s even weirder than that. He actually believes Ellie is interested in him! Seriously, this guy is something else. And we’re only three episodes in – I can’t even imagine what he’ll do next!
Ellie is still fixated on João, despite all evidence to the contrary. When João invites everyone to share wine on the dock, Ellie sees it as a romantic gesture, even though he specifically asked Daisy to join her in front of Ellie. She’s upset when João arrives with Alesia. Ellie complains to Jenna and Ben, and they watch on a monitor as João comforts Alesia, who had told him she was feeling overwhelmed. Jenna, believing Alesia is being inappropriate with her relationship, encourages Ellie to take a photo of them and send it to Alesia’s boyfriend. It’s unclear if Ellie will actually go through with it, but she seems determined to.
I’m as surprised as anyone that João seems so blameless in all of this. If he’s an example of someone truly changing after seeing their bad behavior on TV, let’s hope Mike will review the season too. Right now, Daisy and João, who are working well together as a team, are giving him a serious talking-to: he needs to focus on working more, talking less, and stop spreading rumors. João even warns him, a bit dramatically, that he could lose his job at any moment. In a private interview, Mike admits he really needs this job to work out – he hasn’t been able to make anything else, from his time in the military to trying OnlyFans, successful.
Honestly, I was relieved to hear Ben finally got a decent night’s sleep. He was really hoping to get the galley totally sorted and start this new charter with a good attitude. That lasted about one second, though. He went to start organizing and discovered the oven was completely broken! The engineer checked it out, but the part they needed was backordered, meaning they had to order a whole new oven. And it won’t arrive for three days – so he’s stuck doing this charter without one. Seriously, that’s the last thing he needed, especially with the guests he’s expecting. We then meet Mecca and Joi, who are prepping for an event for their magazine, Pynk. Mecca, who describes herself as a high-roller – Birkin bags, Bentley, the whole nine yards – is very clear: she wants to see a return on her vacation investment. She wants a fancy, six-course dinner and wants to feel like she’s getting her money’s worth. It sounds fair enough, until you see how she plans on making that happen.
As the final preparations for the guests’ arrival wrap up, Ben shares with João how Ellie reacted to the mix-up with the wine in their cabin. João considers texting Ellie to sort things out, but Ben, following a motto he adopted from the Queen, believes in avoiding complaints and explanations. Meanwhile, Ben admits to being a little jealous of the kiss between Jenna and Eddy, though he reminds himself he should be focusing on work. He’s also recently ended a difficult relationship and isn’t eager to get involved in new drama. Jenna decides to talk to Alesia about the situation, and Alesia firmly denies anything is going on with Eddy, though she does reveal the texts they exchanged. She shows Jenna the messages, but only if it means putting the rumors to rest for good. Jenna’s reaction is perfect – she thinks they both deserve each other and wants nothing to do with what she sees as their awkward and unhealthy dynamic.
On the day of the pick-up, the person in question appears upset. Alesia and Mike temporarily stop fighting, but Mike still tells Eddy that Jenna saw the messages – even though Jenna was the one who told him. Later, while waiting for guests at a beach lunch, Jenna and Eddy discuss what happened. Eddy apologizes for his behavior while drunk, but Jenna explains she feels used as a tool in his conflict with Alesia. Their conversation is cut short when the guests arrive.
First, the boat has to leave the dock. As it does, the lines connecting the smaller boats get tangled, creating a problem for João and Mike. João has been very involved this season, dramatically highlighting every mistake the deck crew makes – exclaiming things like, “We’re in trouble!” and “We need to fix this immediately!” – and it seems to suit him better than being a complainer. He asks Jason to pause briefly so they can fix the lines, but that’s not possible. Suddenly energized, Mike figures out how to untangle them, seemingly relying on an instinctive knack for engineering. Does he actually have that skill?
The guests, who had only just arrived, were already demanding food. Daisy proposed lunch at 2 p.m., but they wanted to eat immediately. Ben, trying to stay positive, agreed to move lunch forward by 45 minutes and offered canapés to hold them over. It was now 12:45, meaning lunch would be served at 1:15 – a wait of only half an hour. However, they kept asking for more spring rolls and insisted on eating right away. Mecca spoke to the chief steward with a dismissive attitude, saying Daisy could handle anything and expecting her to make it happen.
As guests enjoyed smoked salmon and mascarpone, Mike, Jenna, and Eddy left for the picnic. Daisy and João realized they should use Mike’s talent for charming people to their advantage. Despite already having spring rolls and salmon, everyone was still hungry! At 1:30, they went to the beach, where the team had thoughtfully prepared snacks. Ben had lunch completely ready to go by 1:38, and by 1:47, they were all eating. It was a great improvement – even though lunch was scheduled for 1:15, they only waited about ten minutes. And everyone loved the food!
Perhaps Ben performs best under pressure, given his profession as a chef. However, when Jason suggests he talk to the guests about their dinner preferences, it seems to overwhelm him even more. They settle on more spring rolls and braised short rib, but Mecca also requests a whole snapper for those who don’t eat meat, which could be difficult without an oven, and Ben’s most impressive dessert. He weakly suggests a twist on apple pie. Everything suggests it’s going to be a mess, but I’m wondering if the show’s producers are deliberately misleading us, as they’ve done before. I really hope that’s the case for Ben’s sake…
