Ben realizes his department’s delays are hurting the overall service on the boat. The episode starts with Annette waiting 45 minutes for her swimsuit and lunch already 20 minutes behind schedule. Even though Jason tries to speed things up in the kitchen, Ben is still deciding on wrap fillings when the swimsuit finally arrives. Jason gets frustrated and starts obsessively organizing and plating food. Ben appreciates the help but feels ashamed. Once the food is finally served, he admits he messed up and explains he’s rusty after not doing this job for years. He worries they’re about to receive a poor tip and doesn’t want to be held responsible.
Daisy had a rough day dealing with scorching heat and a complaining Annette at the beach. She complained to João that dinner wasn’t ready yet. While Ben was cooking, Daisy was the one serving, so his delays reflected poorly on her. Daisy considered telling Ben to say dinner was ready at 7:30 if guests asked for 8:00 – a bit of a gamble, but potentially helpful. João told a stressed Eddy to be more proactive when instructions are unclear. Thankfully, Annette finally went swimming and stopped bothering everyone. At least the guests enjoyed the wraps, even though they arrived 45 minutes late. Jason passed them out in the ocean, and everyone loved them – likely because they were all hungry!
Ben is really hoping to make a good impression with dinner. Annette asked for a salt-crusted fish for Christian’s birthday because that’s her favorite. Luckily, two things go his way: first, the fishmonger delivers a beautiful red snapper just in time, and second, Ellie used to work at a bakery and is great at decorating cakes. Ellie is actually very excited about the baking, saying it’s almost therapeutic for her. Ben thinks their approaches to happiness are very different… When Daisy checks the menu with Ben, he jokes about being ahead of schedule. She’s pleased he’s trying to do better and impress the guests, but his dramatic plan to present the fish whole and crack it open at the table just adds to her stress.
Daisy is already stressed trying to keep track of Mike. She doesn’t really know what he does for work, and he seems to act on impulse, often running back to his cabin to fix his hair. Things get worse when he accidentally drops his radio in the water while helping unload equipment, leaving him unreachable. After Mike disappears from the deck, Daisy tells João she didn’t ask him to come help. João is getting annoyed with Mike’s habit of overdoing things, and between dealing with his unreliability and hearing about his awkward attempt to kiss Daisy, Mike is quickly becoming a laughingstock. The narrator wants to see Mike turn things around, but it’s hard to support him when he doesn’t seem to care about doing his job.
Ben put a salty fish in the oven at 6:50 p.m., expecting it to cook in about an hour and a half. He was aiming for an 8:00 p.m. dinner, and the fish was planned as the second course. Things were going well, but then he had a last-minute idea. Just thirty minutes before the first course, he decided to serve ceviche before the gazpacho, which was already prepared. Meanwhile, Jenna efficiently set the table by 7:10 p.m. Christian reminded everyone about the party’s “Diamonds and Denim” theme, bringing back the previously cancelled “country western” decorations – horses and rhinestones.
At 8:02, Jason, wearing a cowboy hat, joined the guests at the table. Daisy used her radio to let the kitchen know they were ready to be served, but the connection was fuzzy. When she went to check on things, she had to wait a few minutes for Ben and Ellie to finish plating the dishes. She urged them to start preparing the next course immediately, knowing the ceviche – beautifully presented in small glasses with caviar – would be gone quickly. Daisy’s radio still wasn’t working well when she went back for the gazpacho. Ben complained they couldn’t understand her, even though he knew it wasn’t her fault – the distance seemed to be the problem. Trying to stay calm during the busy service, she told him to assume she’d said “begin service” and offered to text him instead. But that didn’t work for him either, and Daisy, losing her patience, snapped at him to just get the food out. By this point, the entire service team was crowded in the kitchen, waiting to take the plates, creating a chaotic scene.
Ellie, the kitchen assistant, feels like she’s ended up running things, as Ben seems completely overwhelmed. He can’t find anything and keeps getting sidetracked. It reminds me of Josh last season on Mediterranean – he demanded complete silence in the kitchen during dinner service. Ben is the opposite, insisting he can talk and plate food at the same time, which is creating chaos. By the time the fish finally reaches the dining room, 25 minutes have passed since the gazpacho. While Ben struggles to fillet it at the bar, Jason tells him to hurry up, joking that he’ll die of boredom chatting with the guests. One guest says the snapper is “worth the wait.” Ben, forgetting how critical these diners are, believes the food’s quality will make them forget about the long delay. What a mistake!
Ellie really came through with Christian’s birthday cake, and Ben was happy about it – something he wouldn’t have expected from Alesia. Ellie and Daisy apologized for being late, but Daisy didn’t seem to care much. Ben has started to make things better by admitting he was wrong, but now he needs to follow through with actions and come up with a new strategy. Everyone, including the captain, agrees his department needs work. The next morning, when I saw Daisy putting out comment cards, I had a feeling Annette would find something to complain about, even though Christian thought everyone had done a good job. And sure enough, Annette didn’t just criticize the service – she also complained about the comment cards themselves, saying they weren’t the right size for the collection box without being folded.
The guest comment cards confirmed Jason’s fears. Many guests rated their overall experience only average, giving it three stars, mainly due to slow service and one mentioning a guest, Liz, getting separated from the group while snorkeling. The tips reflected this lukewarm feedback – the crew only received $1,500 from a potential $20,000. During the meeting, Jason told Ben to improve his processes. Although Ben was clearly responsible for the poor tip distribution, Mike was the one who received the “reflection helmet” – a punishment for losing his radio in the water. This season, Jason seems to be using the helmet more as a lighthearted way to relieve stress and encourage teamwork rather than to publicly shame someone. Ben was so discouraged by the comment cards that he cancelled dinner with the crew and asked Daisy if he could spend the night alone in a guest cabin to clear his head.
Okay, so things are a little awkward. Ben’s staying in, which briefly bummed Jenna out, but honestly, the bigger drama is between Jenna and Ellie. They’re both clearly vying for the chef’s attention, and earlier, Jenna was really annoyed that Ellie bossed her around, telling her to get plates – Ellie just dismissed it as typical insecurity. Then, in line, Ellie just had to squeeze herself between Jenna and Ben. Ugh, I swear we’ve seen this play out before! Jenna’s face said it all when Ellie was gushing to Alesia about how well she gets along with Ben. Honestly, Jenna’s probably wasting her time. Ellie has her sights set on João – she called him a “Viking manly man” and said she wants to “merge genetics” with him! But so far, he’s all talk and no action, apparently. Her whole approach to attraction is a bit… concerning, but hey, to each their own. The dinner conversation was wild though. She just straight-up asked how many of the women were “squirters”! Mike, who’s still clearly impressed by Ellie’s language skills, turned bright red when he finally got a chance to show off his Spanish. But Betul absolutely nailed the response: “Girl, you just got here!”
Okay, so earlier, João called it – he thought Eddy would still go for Alesia, even with her having a boyfriend, and honestly, I think he’s right. But it all comes down to whether Alesia will finally do the right thing and end things with her long-distance boyfriend, because she’s said herself she’d rather move to another country than break up with someone! That’s actually why she’s even on this yacht! The thing is, she is in a relationship, so she can’t really get upset with Eddy and Jenna if they’re connecting. But she’s clearly jealous, and it comes out in these little things, like trying to insert herself into their photos and kissing Eddy on the cheek. Then at the club, Jenna pointed out that Eddy had Alesia’s lipstick all over his face! Eddy was venting about Alesia flirting with him while she has a boyfriend, and he seemed genuinely impressed when Jenna said she’d never do that to her guy. Honestly, Eddy initially thought Jenna was a bit clueless, but he’s starting to think she’s amazing! It doesn’t take much to impress him, it seems – just a little attention and some common sense, and he’s completely won over.
João and Daisy are connecting on the dance floor, and it seems João has really turned over a new leaf, becoming more responsible and thoughtful – though he did accidentally drop Daisy while dancing! Meanwhile, Mike misreads signals from Ellie and tries to kiss her, which was incredibly awkward. Ellie quickly shuts him down, saying she sees him more like a brother. She then skips the hot tub, possibly to avoid further unwanted advances. The group then plays Truth or Dare, leading to a chaotic scene with João running around naked and Daisy kissing him. During the game, Eddy admits he’d like to date Jenna, which upsets Alesia, even though she has a boyfriend. Jenna and Eddy share a kiss (and more later in his cabin, while he’s holding a Cheez-It!). Later, Jenna tells Alesia that Eddy kissed her, prompting Alesia to text Eddy, confessing she can’t stop thinking about him and playfully accusing him of flirting with Jenna. Eddy responds with a flirty message of his own, saying he’d ditch Jenna to be with Alesia if he could be an alien. They end the night by telling each other “I love you” and “good night.” It’s a complicated situation, to say the least!
