PREHISTORIC POWERHOUSE
BBC Factual‘s iconic dinosaur series “Walking With Dinosaurs” is making a comeback with a fresh take, 25 years after it first graced our television screens. The upcoming six-part series, set to air on BBC One and iPlayer, is poised to reshape the way we tell stories about nature through state-of-the-art visual effects and scientific advancements.
The series producers at BBC Studios, in collaboration with co-producers including PBS, ZDF, and France Télévisions, will take viewers on a journey into the prehistoric era by focusing on real dinosaurs whose fossils are currently being unearthed by top paleontologists. Each episode, lasting approximately 50 minutes, combines groundbreaking paleontological findings with captivating narratives, breathing life into dinosaurs such as the Albertosaurus, a fearsome relative of the T. rex with feathers, and the unique Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai, known for its distinctive “unicorn”-like horn.
The TV series is overseen by executive producers Andrew Cohen and Helen Thomas. Kirsty Wilson is in charge as showrunner. Jack Bootle, head of commissioning for specialized factual content at the BBC, gave the project his approval. Bill Gardner provides advice for PBS in this production, while BBC Studios handles global distribution with plans to air it later in 2021.
CONTENT CAPTAIN
Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that José María Caro, who currently oversees the production of original content for Max in Spain, will now be responsible for creating and producing fiction series for Max in Spain. This change follows the completion of Max’s European expansion in June 2024, a major stride as Warner Bros. Discovery aims to bolster its local-language programming in Spain and throughout Europe.
In her role as the head of original scripted content for Spain, Caro will be responsible for supervising upcoming shows on Max, including “Cuando Nadie Nos Ve” and “Furia,” both scheduled to air later this year. She will report directly to Laura Carafoli, who holds the position of SVP Content Networks & Streaming Local Productions Italy & Iberia at Warner Bros. Discovery. Meanwhile, Bibiana González will continue to manage non-scripted original production projects for WBD and Max channels in Spain.
Carlo boasts over a quarter-century of experience in the creative and media industries, having worked at Amazon Studios, Middle East Broadcasting Center, and Originals Media Group. His diverse career spans roles such as content director, executive producer, and director, with notable contributions to productions like “La Templanza,” “La Cocinera de Castamar” and “Señor Dame Paciencia”. It is anticipated that Carlo’s skills will fuel the growth of Max’s Spanish-language programming.
