Battlefield 6’s Season 2 Delay Adds More Challenges, Cosmetics, And Double XP To Season 1

The release of Battlefield 2042’s Season 2 has been pushed back. To keep players engaged while they wait, the developers are releasing an update that will add more content to the current season, including new battle pass items, weekly challenges, and double XP events.

Battlefield 6 and Redsec’s Season 1 is getting an extension until January 20th – the date it was originally planned to end. This means players will have more time to complete the Season 1 battle pass, along with new weekly challenges and a bonus ‘Frostfire’ path to unlock.

The free Frostfire path will offer rewards like a boost to experience gained, a new look for your vehicle, and items to customize your player card. If you purchase the full pass, you’ll also get a new weapon set, a boost to career progression, and even more cosmetic items. You can work on the Frostfire path at the same time as completing the Season 1 battle pass. This time around, you’ll earn points for the Frostfire path by completing new weekly challenges.

Battlefield 6 will offer daily rewards for logging in, as well as multiple Double XP weekends over the next few months. Players can also look forward to special events celebrating Valentine’s Day.

Battlefield 6 launched successfully and initially sold better than Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in the US. However, the first season of new content received a mixed reaction from players. While the final update for the season arrived before the holidays, it unfortunately introduced several problems that impacted how the game played. These issues also led to the cancellation of Battlefield 6’s $1 million Redsec tournament.

Battlefield Studios plans to use Battlefield Labs as a way for players to try out upcoming game updates before they’re officially released. They say this, along with extending Season 1, will help them create and deliver new content for future seasons, including Season 2, in a more engaging way.

Season 2 is now scheduled to launch on February 17th. The developers plan to share more information next month, and we can expect additions like new maps, weapons, and game modes. While specific changes haven’t been confirmed, these are likely to be included in the update.
