Battlefield Studios is tackling the issue of players exploiting the game for quick experience points. They plan to release an update that will significantly increase XP earned after each match – from 10% to 40% – and make it much easier to unlock weapon attachments by lowering the amount of XP required. This should improve the overall player progression system.
These changes are happening now that players have noticed servers reaching their limits. Some players were joining matches filled with computer-controlled opponents (bots) to quickly gain experience and improve their character stats by fighting easier opponents than other players.
Battlefield Studios recognizes why players have been focusing on quickly gaining experience and testing game settings, but this has unfortunately created some problems. With many servers now used for ‘farming’ XP instead of regular gameplay, it’s become harder for players to find and enjoy matches with others. Moving forward, the studio wants to prioritize the player-created experiences that foster community, while still allowing for customization and innovation.
The studio is working on changes to limit the number of popular XP farming spots, which will help improve server performance for all players. They also plan to refine gameplay and reduce the intense brightness in Battlefield 6 with upcoming updates.
Battlefield 6 has gotten off to an incredible start, becoming the best-selling game in the series’ history. EA announced that over 7 million copies have already been sold across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game also hit a peak of over 747,000 players simultaneously on Steam. It remains to be seen how many players will continue playing after the launch of Season 1 on October 28th, especially with the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game arriving next month.
