EA and Battlefield Studios have revealed that the first season for Battlefield 6 will start on October 28th. They also shared details about upcoming content, such as new maps and guns.
Season 1 will play out in three phases, including Rogue Ops, California Resistance, and Winter Offensive. Each phase adds a new map and other items, including weapons. Here’s a rundown:
October 28: Rogue Ops
The initial update introduces the Blackwell Fields map, a new game mode called Strikepoint, and a new vehicle, the Traverser Mark 2. Players will also have access to new weaponry, including the SOR-300SC carbine, the GGH-22 sidearm, the Mini Scout sniper rifle, and attachments like the Rail Cover and LPVO.
November 18: California Resistance
Phase two of Season 1 introduces the Eastwood map and a special, temporary game mode called Sabotage. We’re also adding a new feature, Battle Pickups, as well as the DB-12 shotgun and the M357 Trait pistol. Finally, this update includes the Troy Angled attachment. Learn more about all the new additions!
December 9: Winter Offensive
The biggest addition in the Winter offensive is a brand new, limited-time event map called Ice Lock Empire State, which is a frozen take on the classic Empire State map. This update also includes the Ice Lock limited-time event itself, and a new melee weapon: the Ice Climbing Axe.
As a Battlefield 6 player, I’m stoked to hear that all of this stuff is completely free! It’s part of how they’re planning to keep the game fresh with new content over time – a live-service model with seasonal updates. Basically, they’re adding things regularly after the game launched, and it’s all included – no extra cost. It’s a great way to keep the community engaged and gives us more reasons to jump back in. You can find more details on the official Battlefield site, but the main takeaway is: free content! This approach means we’ll always have something new to experience without having to spend more money. It’s awesome!
The game will be available starting October 10th on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Also, EA recently released a new live-action trailer that playfully jabs at their biggest competitor, Call of Duty. While Battlefield 6 is generating a lot of excitement and anticipation before its release, most analysts don’t expect it to outsell Call of Duty this year.
