There won’t be an early-access period for Battlefield 6, but Xbox players can start downloading the game today. Players on PC and PlayStation 5 will need to wait a little longer – a few days, specifically – before they can begin playing.
For those playing the standard game, multiplayer, or campaign on Xbox Series X, the Battlefield 6 file size is less than 41GB. On Xbox Series S, it’s 39.10 GB. Keep in mind the game lets you choose whether to install HD texture packs, and these packs greatly increase the file size. The MP HD pack is 25.6GB, and the Multiplayer HD Marker pack is 23.8GB.
So, I was just reading on the Battlefield Bulletin – it’s a great fan account – and they’re saying that if you’re on PlayStation 5 or PC, you’ll be able to start pre-loading Battlefield 6 on October 3rd! Apparently, the game is launching on all platforms – PlayStation, Xbox, and PC – on October 10th. They’ve said the rollout will begin at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, which is 4 PM BST for those of us in the UK. Really excited for this!
In the future, EA and DICE have revealed that Battlefield 6 Season 1 will launch on October 28th and be delivered in three stages. This update will be available at no cost to all players.
EA recently created a live-action trailer for Battlefield 6 that playfully teased the celebrity endorsements used by the competing Call of Duty franchise. Despite this, most industry analysts predict that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will still sell more copies than Battlefield 6. So, Battlefield 6 is going to be a pretty big deal – it’s the first major game EA is releasing since they announced they were being sold. It’s a massive deal, worth around $55 billion, to a group including Saudi Arabia’s PIF, Affinity Partners, and Silver Lake.
