DICE recently revealed the content for Battlefield 6‘s first season, but a particular skin has angered players. Many feel it doesn’t fit the game’s realistic style, going against what the developers previously said about cosmetic items.
Before Battlefield 6 was released, players were especially interested in the game’s character customization options. Many were unhappy with the bright, often outlandish skins featured in games like Call of Duty, and the developers at DICE promised that Battlefield 6 would focus on more realistic and grounded designs.
Before the game released, there was some debate about one of the character skins – some players thought it was too extreme. However, the initial selection of characters was generally liked by most players.
Following the announcement of the new Season 1 skins, many players have expressed concern that the game is losing its dark and realistic atmosphere.
BF6 Season 1 skin sends community into meltdown
The “Wicked Grin” skin for the Assault class is getting a lot of attention. It features bright blue colors and a cartoon mouth on the character’s face. Although it’s quite different from the styles seen in games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, some fans are concerned about the aesthetic choices for the upcoming Battlefield 6.
Reddit user ‘Ohforfk’ questioned whether the game was promised realistic character skins – outfits that would look like something worn in a real war. They expressed concern that with the new season starting, the skins would instead be overly colorful and unrealistic.
As a fan, I really bought into the promise of this game – they showed us what looked like a truly authentic battlefield with believable soldiers. It felt different than something like the 2042 release, where everyone just felt… generic. But honestly, it turned out to be a false advertisement, and I’m worried things are only going to get worse from here.

They were far from alone, as the post received thousands of replies from frustrated players.
One person commented that the new look was really unattractive, while another expressed sadness about the loss of the game’s original, simpler appearance, fearing it would become unrecognizable over time.
One person commented that it looked bad and wasn’t appealing, calling it a “mess.” Another simply said it wasn’t good and didn’t look cool.
Some people went so far as to say they would intentionally avoid helping someone who was wearing the skin, even if they could have saved them.
“As a medic main, I will never revive you if you’re running a skin like this s**t.”
It remains to be seen if DICE will add more vibrant character skins going forward, but since they’ve promised to continue offering realistic ones, this discussion is likely to happen repeatedly.
