Battlefield 6‘s Portal mode allows players to design custom maps and game types, but it’s largely become a space for quickly earning experience points and tackling tougher in-game objectives.
Players have been running into a frustrating error message saying “Global Game Quota Exceeded,” which means the game’s servers are currently full and you can’t start a new Portal server. The developers know about the problem and what’s causing it, and they shared an update with the community on October 17th.
We’ve noticed over the last week that our community servers have been full. After looking into it, we discovered many servers were being used mostly to quickly gain experience points, boost player statistics, and unlock achievements by playing against bots, rather than for typical gameplay.
They recognize the reason for the current situation, but admit that a lot of servers are being used for automated experience farming instead of actual gameplay. This is making it difficult for players to connect and enjoy experiences together.

BF6 devs to crack down on XP farms
To fix this issue, they’re making changes to reduce the number of XP farms that overload servers, and to make it simpler to play with friends in custom games and officially approved experiences.
It’s still unknown exactly how this will work, but once the update is released, players will need to re-publish all their worlds – both those they’ve created themselves and official ones – before they can start a new game server.
These XP farm servers exist primarily because it takes a long time to level up and get new weapons and attachments. Plus, some in-game challenges, like getting 150 headshots from over 200 meters away, are really difficult.
DICE has heard player feedback and is now making changes to help players advance more quickly. These changes include faster match completion, bigger daily rewards, quicker weapon upgrades, and easier access to assignments.
We understand players are having trouble with some of the challenges, and we’re working on fixing them. However, it will take time to make, test, and release these improvements.
