Battlefield 6 launched less than three weeks ago to great excitement and a large number of players, and now the developers are announcing a new addition: the long-awaited battle royale mode.
When Call of Duty launched Warzone, its free-to-play battle royale game in 2020, it became a huge hit. Now, with Battlefield 6, EA is hoping to replicate that success by creating a similar experience.
They’ve surprised everyone by releasing RedSec, a free-to-play battle royale game, almost without any prior announcement.
EA announces Battlefield 6’s free-to-play RedSec coming soon
EA announced on the Battlefield X/Twitter page that RedSec will launch on October 28, 2025, at 8 AM Pacific Time, 11 AM Eastern Time, or 3 PM GMT.

We received a short preview revealing the game will be free-to-play and launch just one day after its announcement. A gameplay trailer will be released simultaneously with the game itself, and a link to it has been provided.
Fans are understandably excited about the release, and many were expecting it to appear suddenly without much advance notice. One fan playfully wrote, “I’m calm, you’re the one overreacting!”, and others are eager to start playing as soon as it’s available.
We don’t yet know exactly what the new Battlefield game will include, but players won’t have to wait much longer to experience it. The game, along with its maps, weapons, and first season of content, will be available on October 28th.
