
On March 10th, Bam Adebayo played an incredible game, captivating NBA fans as he came very close to setting a new scoring record for the Miami Heat.
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler had an incredible game against the Washington Wizards, scoring 83 points and setting a new team record. This performance helped lead the Heat to a 150-129 victory and solidified his place in NBA history. With seven straight wins, the Heat currently hold the 6th spot in the Eastern Conference.
In the end, he achieved the second-highest single-game score in NBA history, surpassing Kobe Bryant and trailing only Wilt Chamberlain.

After Tyler Herro, Miami’s top three-point scorer, was sidelined by injury, 28-year-old team captain Bam Adebayo immediately took charge of scoring against the Wizards.
Adebayo started the game with incredible energy. While usually known for his defense, he quickly became Miami’s main offensive force, consistently driving to the basket and hitting shots from mid-range against Washington. He scored an amazing 31 points in the first quarter, setting a new Heat record for most points in an opening period – surpassing even LeBron James and Dwayne Wade’s previous bests.

Adebayo had a remarkable stretch, even outscoring the entire Wizards team in the first quarter. He continued his incredible performance, eventually surpassing Wade’s previous career-high point total. Fans and sports reporters across the league watched as record after record fell with each basket.

By halftime, the buzz around the arena and online had already reached another level.
Adebayo continued to score throughout the second half, giving Miami a solid lead that Washington couldn’t overcome. He had an exceptional scoring performance all night.
With ten minutes left in the game, he had already scored 67 points and continued to play incredibly well. Everyone in the crowd and on his team realized they were witnessing something amazing, and as a result, his teammates started getting him the ball even more often.

In the last minute and a half of the game, Bam scored 82 points from a free throw, surpassing Kobe Bryant for the second-most points ever scored in a single game. The crowd immediately began chanting “MVP!” as he then made another shot, bringing his total to 83.
Man, after the game, Coach Spo just pulled me in for this huge hug on the bench. I mean, I just dropped 83 points in 42 minutes – it was wild!
His incredible scoring total is now the highest in a single NBA game this season, surpassing Nikola Jokic’s 56 points from Christmas Day. This performance also broke a Heat franchise record previously held by LeBron James, who scored 61 points while playing for Miami – a game long considered the team’s most impressive scoring display.
Adebayo had a historic night, scoring 83 points with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. It was one of the most dominant scoring performances ever for the Heat.
Commentator Eric Reid famously said that night, “This is a game you’ll never forget.”
As of today, Wilt Chamberlain still holds the NBA record for the most points scored in a single game – an incredible 100 points on March 2, 1962.
